I agree, but with keith its not so much him not looking that part for me, its that i don't think he has the performance abilities - and with ben its not only the spoilt brat thing, more than that its his lack of vocal ability.

Lee top

After performance on Saturday Lewis next (which even surprises me writing this!)

Keith (can't act) and Ben (can't sing) last, though I do think Ben stands out in group performances

At the start of this competition Keith was the only one i saw youtube clips of singing so hes not exactly raw when it comes to performing. His profile says hes been preforming publically since the age of 5 and is studying MT. Yet they've protrayed him like hes just walked in from the checkout

Why was Lee touted at the beginning as a professional and Daniel a filing clark when its obvious they both had similar experience?

What about Johndeep who was a semi finalist in some kind of MT competition as well as studying at the Royal College of Music? What about Ben and Lewis who are at the Italia Conti school? Or Chris C who has been at the Sylvia Young school since the age of 13. Or Seamus whos first TV appearance was at the age of 10?

All of them come from a similar background, all of them have had training, all of them will have auditioned and gone for parts before.

The only difference that i can see between the contestants and Lee (and Daniel) is that he has been good enough to win some of these previous auditions and the others haven't.

And some think that the show is geared to give Lee an unfair advantage Well i suppose all the people out there who think like that, negate any kind of advantage he supposedly has.”

I think part of the issue people may have is that on the application form for the show, it said that you couldn't have already had west end show experience. Hmmmm all seems a little dodge to me!

I didn't realise this. I wonder why Lee was allowed to take part then?

I am suprises IF it did say that on the application, as both daniel and lee(and prob others if we are honest) have west end experience.

Yep I swear I am not lying it did say that. At the end of the day I can understand ALW covering his bases cos he has a lot of money and his reputation riding on this. But, it is a little unfair to run the competition if it was pretty much decided before it began.

I think Lee is absolutely brilliant and would make a brilliant lead. I would love to see him in Phantom as I think he would have been excellent. I just feel sorry for the boys because he has such strong experience behind him and he is so much older than they are - of course his voice is stronger, the other 3 are still kids.

One of my friends applied for the show and the application form actually said that they would PREFER people who applied not to have previous experience. Not that they couldn't have no past experience.

Not sure about that tbh. His CV states that hes been a part of the touring production of Joseph and managed to get on stage in the west end twice out of 700 performances as understudy of Pharoah. Hes also understudied in Miss Saigon, Phantom and Tommy but no mention of actually being on stage.

Maybe 2 west end appearances is not considered as really having west end experience.

If you check what it says at the bottom of his write up on the Joseph website, it says he has performed professionally in 'Phantom of the Opera' (understudy Raoul), 'Miss Saigon' (understudy for Chris) and 'Tommy' (understudy).

Then it says he performed 12 times a week in the touring production of Joseph, performing twice in the west end version.

I'd say that was substantially more experience in the west end than any other person in the competition.

Nobody has ever denied that hes had experience. Most of the others have too although granted not in the west end (Oh sorry - nearly forgot about Daniel the filing clerk )

I was just wondering why he was allowed to enter if professionals with west end experience weren't permitted.

Point is moot now anyway as Gravitational has explained that the application forms didn't actually say that.

I thought that was the case. if they wasn't allowed to have any experience, i imagine they wouldn't have made it so clear that daniel and lee both have had.

Did you look at any of the other contestants???

Daniel: BA hons from acting school, has been in:

Sunset Boulevard, War of the Worlds(Russell Watsons understudy), Rent(Adam Ricketts understudy), Grease, West side story(played Tony) - plus numerous pantos.

Keith is my favourite, but I acknowledge that Lee is the best all-rounder.
