Opera Mini & O2 PAYG
Cant get Opera Mini to work on my Motorola KRZR K1. I can browse using the built in browser just fine. But Opera Mini will get to the connection tests, it will go through but then at the end of them it will say: "Failed To Connect The Internet" then it will ask me to go to the help pages on the Opera Mini site or contact my service provider for the settings. Is it because O2 doesnt allow mobile internet (access points) to be used on PAYG?

Ya hit the nail on the head, O2 don't provide full internet access on PAYG so your limited to browsing O2 Active (wot joy) Why they impose this rediculous limitation is beyond me, it just demonstrates yet again O2's total lack of vision. They're falling further and further behind other networks.

Looks like if i want to have full mobile internet access and the ability to access emails using the email client built in, im going to have to move to another network? That limitation reminds me of when i was on 3, could only access their site, all others were blocked! Only just recently have they kind of opened it up (i say kind of because you have to pay extra to use it from what i last heard about it). Think O2 should: enable full internet access on payg, introduce £1 a day access like T-Mobile and Orange and permanently disable the balance alerts! Doubt any of that will happen lol

Sadly, yes. I liked O2, they do some good offers but they are so short sighted.

Dunno really, TMob n Orange do £1 for the day, I think Voda are gonna do something similiar (not sure about that tho). Just look into it and decide wots best for you.

That's strange. I've no trouble browsing with Opera Mini on my Nokia 6230i on O2 Online PAYG.

Apparently, There is a way around O2 PAYG mobile internet restriction using a proxy server. This is quite well known but not supported by all phones.
However the data charges are £3 a megabyte. |
