Half blank screen? (Samsung plasma)

A friend of mine has a 36 inch Plasma TV - it has an intermittent fault where the bottom half of the TV goes blank.

Is this likely to be a problem with the screen? or something internal?

Could be either?, but generally most Plasma faults are the screen (PDP) - however the 'screen' does include a couple of PCB's which come as part of it, and (due to poor reliability) some of these are now available seperately.
