I don't think Bethany was there for the second half of that scene. the shot changed from Todd, Sarah & Bethany to a very tight 2-shot of just Todd and Sarah half-way through the shouting match. It wasn't a particularly well framed picture of the two of them and it looked to me that they had to show them in close-up to disguise the fact that Bethany had been taken away. Perhaps she DID start to get a bit upset?

Sadly Gail, like so many other soap people (and those in real life) have forgotten their own youth and become quite moralistic in their old age. I remember Gail was quite a lass about the boys when she used to knock around with Suzy Birchall and they both lodged with Elsie Tanner. Bugger! Showing my age there.

Even Audrey, a pillar of respect in society now was a wayward mother who if I recall correctly didn't have much to do with Gail in her childhood and only came back into her life on a regular basis after her marriage to "our Brian".

being chucked into a canal in a ford galaxy by a doolally homocidal maniac type nutty bloke was probably a bit more scary than old fish face shouting a bit

That's nothing compared to a scene with a toddler in Holby City a few weeks ago. The poor thing was distraught but the actors kept on screaming at the tops of their voices. I hate seeing things like that on TV (and yes, I do know it's probably an everyday occurrence in the lives of far too many children in real life).

It's quite a coincidence that this subject came up, cos on the show over here today, Sarah was shouting at Candice while holding Bethany, and I was thinking, poor little mite having to listen to this stressful racket! I've often wondered how all the shouting scenes affect the small children.
