I have to say that ADWD and Daniel in particular have converted me into someone who is now addicted to musical theatre.

Although i've seen ADWD and Grease at the West End, i've never really been much of a musical theatre enthusiast. But now i'm finding that i want to go to every production i hear about!

So many people raved about Rent and War of the Worlds that i had to buy them from Amazon just to see what the fuss is about. (The fact that Daniel appears on disc 2 of WOTW is totally irrelevant! )

Just watched WOTW which was amazing and gonna go watch Rent now. Wicked keeps getting mentioned too and i'm finding myself having a look on the internet to see which shows are on now

Anyone else find they are more into musicals now cos of ADWD?

I used to say I would never go to a musical ever! until I went to my first "Phantom of the Opera" I have seen that now 18 times and it just went on and on with such as "Les Miserables" - "Miss Saigon" - "Sunset Boulevard" - I love them all!

I would love to go and see more musicals - if only time and money were limitless!

I was way into musicals before hand

Les Miserables, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Whistle Down the Wind, Little Shop of Horrors and Phantom are a couple of the well known ones I really enjoy; but there's a load of wonderful "cult" ones, like The Last Five Years, Avenue Q,The Secret Garden, The Scarlett Pimpernel, Bare, Parade and Zanna, Don't! that are worth seeking out. Can't go wrong with a bit of Sondheim either and for ALW himself - I find Aspects of Love, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Beautiful Game to be his best works.

I wish I was just getting into musicals again! You've got so much wonderful stuff to discover!

I have to say HDYSAPLM made me really start going back to the theatre and i have made it my mission to see 4 shows this year.

I have only seen 1 so far Mary Poppins Highly recommend. Wicked is top of my to see list, plus anything Daniel and Lee are in is also on the list.

Ahhh I loved Mary Poppins, loved Phantom as well and Miss Saigon, saw Joseph twice, never have seen Les Mis though and want to see Rent after hearing many people mention it on here - Mamma Mia was a good laugh it you are into Abba (though it has no story) just love West end shows - oh Chicago was brilliant as well. Will certainly go to see Lee in any show and would love to see Daniel too.

The new Evita - an argentinian herself - is wonderful and Che to die for. The production is closing at the Adelphi to make way for Joseph so, if you want to see it, you'll need to get your skates on!

I've sort of had a passing interest in musicals but mainly in film format, hadn't been to theatre much until the last few years.

Then I saw Rent when I went to New York... OMG it was so good! I've since seen My Fair Lady and Chicago in London, and I really want to see The Lion King and Blood Brothers, as well as Joseph (if the right guy wins ).

Need to get me up to London some time soon!

I always find that the theatre is like a proper night out. My first was Godspell, then I saw Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph, Blood Brothers, Chicago and lots more. My favourite is Les Mis. I'm looking forward to seeing Lee in the West End soon. I'll also make sure I see Daniel there too and Craig hopefully on tour soon.

Daniel might be in Avenue Q if the 'rumour' is true. We're waiting to hear from his people!

I think it's closed, but yes - it was fabulous. I really only went because of the great Phillip Quast (who was Peron), and ended up really enjoying!

I LOVE Avenue Q - I'm guessing he'd be Rod/Princeton? The guy doing that now looks freakishly similar to Daniel (I thought so when I saw it a few weeks back). He'd need to get practice in with those puppets though, I've held one and they're HEAVY, and really hard to "work".

When Joseph was on in London with Jason Donovan I saw it 5 times (bearing in mind I was travelling up from Devon each time!!!) and I have seen Chess about 5 times too.

Then I met my husband who is also mad about musicals - he had already seen Les Mis about 4 times ... and we try and get to see them as often as we can.

Shows we have seen multiple times are: Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Tommy, Rent, La Cava - I'm sure there are more.

Now that we live in Kent it's easier to get into London, but we now also have 2 little children, so that cramps our style at bit.

But I have tickets for Joseph for September, and also Dirty Dancing later that month.

As soon as I find out what Daniel will be in - I'll be off booking for that too!!

I LOVE MUSICAL THEATRE!!!

Well the rumour is Princeton, but it could have developed beause Daniel said he really would like to play that role.

Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Whoever plays Princeton has to play Rod (all the actors in the show play two roles each, swapping puppets!). And Lordy, he'd have to have puppet sex!

I'm SO seeing it again if he's in it - though the two times I've seen that show I've ended up watching the puppets more than the actors! Won't happen with Daniel, I'm sure.

Indeed. I go as much as I can but the money part can be a real issue. I have no idea how people go to see them multiple times, unless they have already seen every other show. I would always want to see a new one.

thats the point - you are supposed to watch the puppets rather than the actors.

Oh, hello again.

Not really. Even the creators themselves have said this, that's why the actors aren't dressed all in black and on their knees - they're in bright clothes, holding the puppets up to sit on their shoulders. Robert Lopez even called it an "ensemble piece between puppets and actors". So, I think the general idea is you watch them both. Otherwise the puppets would have been nominated for Tonys, not the respective actors.

Yup - puppet sex. During which Daniel would have to shout "don't put your finger there......put your finger there!" (and also lots of f**ks)

It's a fantastic show; as is Rent (only seen it once, in New York. Someone from NSynce was in it, but luckily we got his understudy ). Wasn't sure about the film though, as they all looked so much older (as opposed to being in their twenties on the cd).

I wish I was still a newbie - I did a really rambling recommendation post for you somewhere up there ^^^

Hopefully, I'm off to see Wicked tomorrow. I've seen clips on Youtube of the original cast, and I've got the soundtrack, and it's brilliant original musical (from the music at least, have to see what it's like with the actors LOL!)
