I used to think Lewis would struggle but his dogged endurance thus far suggests otherwise, I think he's tougher than we've given him credit for, plus combine that with his innate 'fragility' and you have a very nice combination for the role.

As for Keith, I am certainly NOt a teeny by any stretch of the imagination, but I think Keith looks pretty nice, especially when he grins mischievously; I also think that he will have not the slightest problem on stage...he seems to thrive on it.
Ben remains a real worry....I discern no vocal improvement in him whatsoever and as a MUSICAL I want at least passable singing!

Incidentally, what happened in Sound of Music situation? Did Connie buckle under the strain so Aoilfe was brought in? If so, heaven help our bunch, even Lee!! Daniel, come back, your help is needed!!

How could I possibly know this? I can only go by his performances and what the specialist panel say. I think Ben would be excellent in the right role (for example, years and years ago I saw Robert Lindsay in 'Me and My Girl' - Ben would charm the pants off anyone in a role like that), but my personal impression is that Joseph doesn't suit him.

What on earth does this have to do with it? We're judging the contestants on what we see on the show and in considering whether they're up to handling the role, we're only taking that into consideration, plus factors like their age. I can't understand your point here.

My understanding is that in the West End it's quite common, especially into a run, for the leads to have a night off during the week. I was once caught out when trying to take my parents to see Petula Clark in Sunset Boulevard - it turned out that she didn't do Thursdays. If you asked at the box office they told you this, but it wasn't publicised. Nowadays things are better in that it is made generally known.

If a Joseph with a weak voice wins (and i assume you mean Ben as hes the only one who consistantly hits bum notes) then i worry for him tbh. Same goes for Lewis and Keith.

I do think all these boys have potential but tbh if any of them win it might not be a case of their big break but a premature end to their careers. I just don't believe any of them are ready for it yet.

The publicity around these shows is phenominal and i'm betting the critics are going to be circling waiting for blood.

I worry about any of the 3 boys winning and not putting in a spectacular performance. Any hint of bum notes, lack of charisma or lack of inner strength and they could be slaughtered ”

Good post

If a Joseph with a weak voice wins the world will stop turning!

OMG - I feel we are the threshold of Armageddon......

Do I detect a teensy bit of sarcasm, Snips? I don't think you understand just how serious this matter is

Here's a thought: Perhaps Joseph is such a light and poppy show that any of the four left would have strong enough voices to do it?

If I'm wrong, and the Joseph can't handle 8 shows a week, I think ALW could be in a bit of trouble. The majority of people who book in, say, the first six months will want to see the winner - ADWD is effectively a massive advert for this! The only real solution would be to do what ewan wilson suggested:

Possibly not with Daniel though (although I would like to see that ) Would ALW have the gall to ask him back after his comments on Daniel's last show?

I hope Lloyd Webber realise it's not just having a good voice but he's got to be pleasing to the eye combined with great personality ....and not a snifflling "leading actor".”

If you mean that it has to be a pretty boy then, whatever his talents, Lee is certainly not that. As BK said, Ben is the face who could be on all the teeny magazines. Lee is an old man to that market. Keith and Lewis are both good-looking lads. Older females might think Lee is attractive but they will probably also think that the three boys are too, if only in a maternal sort of way but that certainly does not work the other way around.

We have already booked to see the show in August and I actually think that Keith would make the transformation from boy to man best, because remember that’s how the story starts off. However, there is not family agreement who should win and I will be happy to see whichever of the final four make it.

I wouldn't go if Lewis won - I find him too effeminate and I don't like his voice. I still think & hope Lee will win because he clearly has the best voice and stage presence, but I wouldn't object to seeing either of the other two in the lead role. Incidentally, referring to a couple of previous posts, beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder but I think it's silly and cruel to use words like 'ugly' - and actually I think Keith is quite nice looking.

For every one here that will not go and pay to see someone because they are not their favourite they want to Win - two more will go and pay to see them.

No one will have ALW quaking in his boots thinking it is going to be a flop!

I would rather BEN - Keith or Lewis win, but I would go and see any of the Four!

True, very true - I daresay it's already pretty well booked up.

most of the bookings for a production like this come from ticket agencies and coach/weekind London Theatre breaks, always an initial good seller.

even if people have already got tickets, and go see the show, thats not going to stop people complaining if the lead isn't good enough and does not give a good enough performance.

If you have ever had dealings on the "inside" of any West End Theatre, you would know very few people complain about performers in the cast!

to people they tell about the show they do - which is what most people go by, word of mouth as to whether a show is worth seeing.

That is why ALW comment re would you want to hear Daniel singing for 2 hours was the ludicrous ever as Joseph is all singing and Daniel had the strongest voice.

Good point - i like the lead role to be able to sing when i see shows, infact, i like all of the cast to be able to sing very well. Daniels voice is without a doubt good.

Yes, Daniel does have a very good, strong voice and I do hope that his fans will be seeing him on the stage soon. I don't think ALW's comment was about his voice though. He seems to have something else in mind.

Just a thought - Ben had tonsillitis the week he sang Blue Suede shoes- now I am no Doctor but tonsillitis doesn't normally get cleared up very quckly. Is it possible the boy has been singing throughout the show with a throat infection.

Ok I know am clutching at straws but .........................

It's not ludicrous though - I wouldn't want to watch Daniel in this particular show for two hours - no way! He can sing, granted, but there's so much more to an evening at a musical, and if Daniel was Joseph, I wouldn't have gone

I can't wait to hear the boys sing solos from Joseph in the final, then we can get a better idea of how good they will be in the role.

I've bought my tickets already but I'm afraid if Lewis wins then they're going back. I know thats an awful thing to say but he's the only one left now that I just dont see as Joseph at all. He seems like a nice guy, but for me his voice is too weak and not the style that I want to sit and listen to for 2 hours...

Ben fills the stage with charisma and I really like his voice so could easily watch him. And Lee's my second favourite (he won me over with Paint it Black). Keith i'd still go and see but I dont really think his voice is right for Joseph. I know i'm no expert but I know what I want to have paid to see!
