no - there is every chance that he didn't - sure the actual lead, but the understudy, sure thats what his staff are for.

He may have wrote the musical along with Tim Rice, but I am quite sure he does not have a hand in every production of Jospeh all across the world! I think we have to realise how many productions of Joseph there are world-wide. How can we possibly imagine that ALW has working knowledge of them all, Lee starred in a touring production - it wasn't even the West End.
ALW was not the producer or director of this tour.......just the writer! Do you think before he died Arthur Miller, the playwright cast every production of every one of his plays world wide. Have some sense people! ![]() |

yes your right ALW was ent the producer of the Joseph tour Lee was in but Bill Kenright was , I think thats why people think its unfair that Lee has had major rolls in shows that 2 judges have been involved in.

Not having a go here I think Lees OK and its obvious hes going to win, but even all the hardened Lee fans must see hes at an advantage to the others having worked for Bill kenright and ALW.

I don't see that it's an advantage at all. I remember it being mentioned in the first live show that Lee had auditioned for Bill before and he said he'd never seen Lee as more than an understudy... so you could say Lee had a harder job than the others, as he had to overturn's Bill previous thoughts.

Perhaps Bill is right and that is all Lee really was and still is - an understudy!

What's the big deal about him already having played the Pharaoh. I had this discussion with my mum when she watched an episode cos she really doesn't like this type of stuff. Anyway we both agreed that having already played a part doesn't really matter it just means you know the songs slightly better.
If anything it makes it harder for you because you've got to change the judges perception of you which they will have made from before. Then in the publics eyes it could backfire on you as your seen as professional and not a good choice as the public always prefer the underdogs. |

A friend of mine was in Joseph in the West End and never even met ALW.
