And no I didn't go on about how her VB obsession could be a mental illness at all, I mentioned it once in my post, and then later said I don't know if it's a real mental illness,..everything else in my post was about rationlising her behaviour in the argument. it's not ridiculous at all that Chanelle's obsession with VB could border on a mental illness.

For some reason you have picked up the 'mental illness' thing which I mentioned twice in my post and are making a big deal about it.
In my post I didn't even actually say that she had mental illness. It's a very intense obsession from the looks of things and it appears that you don't feel able to admit that to yourself, or you don't appear to be able to handle the fact that somebody else may see it as obsessive. I haven't used it to put her down, I've actually used it to try to understand some of her behaviour.

That's what a discussion forum is for.
If you want to kill this thread dead then you go ahead and post about how wonderful and perfect Chanelle is, and try and police everybody else to just say wonderful things, and see how long it survives.
On DS we discuss. On appreciation threads in previous years we do try to understand the character of who we are suppporting, we don't start flinging personal insults at each other just because we don't all agree with everything each other says.
We are on an appreciation thread for Chanelle, and you don't want to analyse?
Then how on earth do you know what you think you're supporting? Do you even know why?

It's pretty obvious to just about eveybody in this thread that Chanelle is indeed obsessed with Victoria Beckham, she even said so herself.

Your entire post that I'm responding to here is implying that I have attacked her for her VB thing. On the contrary I have actually tried to consider her obsession and try to understand it, and even used it to possibly rationalise her behaviour.

In my original post I was not posting to say I have a problem with her VB thing and nor was I making out that I am judging her and having a go at her. On the contrary I was actually rationalising her behaviour to some extent.

If you check my posts in this thread I have been very supportive of Chanelle so for you to be making a big deal over me apparently 'judging' her and being critical of who she likes is just really strange.
It's as though you're some sort of hardcore fan who will only allow people to say positive things about the object of their support.

For you to be attacking me in a Chanelle appreciation thread when I have been very supportive of her is what I'd call ludicrous.

An Appreciation thread is not supposed to be for heated debate, it is for people to post appreciative comments.

In most of your posts you have reference to VB and thats its a flaw in Chanelles character....well I think a flaw in someones character is if they are nasty, spiteful, threatening etc etc., you get the point yeh? I just read about the argument that took place between Chanelle and Emily. It seems like they both overreacted about the situation and it escalated to something they both could have stopped earlier..they were both in the wrong I think and it escalated far too much as it only started over some hair straighteners!

Anyway it was just a bitchy fight and i'm glad they've both made up now.

Orlaith... the thing that always put me off her was how queasily thin she was. Totally overrated and not very pleasant a person either.

Chanelle has much more to offer in most departments, though to be balanced Orlaith had good skin and lower tapering.

The main thing though is that Chanelle is much more of a fiesty down to earth lass that one would have thought would be garnering a lot more female support.

Maybe it takes more than the first week for the initial dislike for her audition tape and 'gimmick' (the VB thing) to die down.

That has been my thought too. Apparently she tried to commit suicide a few months after she found out how her mother died, and then went into therapy, and the Victoria Beckham thing started after that. VB could be another manifestation of the same issues. Whatever the reason, it sounds like a serious obsession with her spending more than she can afford on it. Not healthy. (But more healthy than slashing her wrists.) I think and hope she will grow out of it as she becomes more secure in herself and her own achievements.

Living in Scotland I've not heard a lot of Wakey/Yorkshire voices but hers is lovely. Breathy, knowing and full of promise!

Chanelle is by far my favourite housemate this year. She is so funny i just love her.

she has obviously had a tough time in her life but still appears nice and has a sunny outlook, which is why i like her so far

but as far as the house issue goes, i haven't yet seen the argument, but it sounds like she has got caught up in the power battles between Lesley<->Emily, and Emily<->Charley, as suggested by this bit ..
