Salford was always one of the better second rate universities.
It's problem is in offering a Media course.
Like every other second rate university they have to compete to provide courses for new and emerging markets.
Today Salford is a primary provider of candidates of the highest order to Televised sales channels the world over.

I am very proud of my daughter getting a place there as I have no doubt Christopher Ecclestone's mum was.
Lincoln has improved a lot since they built the university.....so if you think its crap now........alot of the courses at the uni were a bit mickey mouse initially as they wanted to get the students in.....I think its quite big on crime studies now as well as media....its going to take time to build up a reputation and get the decent students in.
bevheth I have no doubt that you are very proud of your daughter/son doing well at Salford.

Salford is a hole! The University is great, spent many years there, but the actual surrounding place? *shudder*
Also I think Simon was more just mocking the crappy course that is media studies and it's ilk.
Salford may be well be a hole but a hole that is within 5 minutes walk from the centre of Manchester which isn't a hole. In fact Salford University is closer to the centre of Manchester than Manchester University is and however much a hole Salford may be it is far less of a hole than it used to be.

It is Performance and Media. Something she has wanted to do for many years. Do you want me to say to her, sorry, no, you can't do that because it's not acceptable to some people (especially some people on Digital Spy) that you have an interest in working behind the scenes in an industry that's deemed to be too frivolous?
