The way your mind works sometimes. Why, again, does that mean Ben's going home? I think a michael Jackson song'd suit Ben down to the ground - the boy knows his limitations as well as anyone, he knew last week's song wasn't great for him. If Ben's happy, I'm happy!

Because - if ALW is playing fair with the contestants - then Ben will have to be doing a michael jackson Ballad, to prove to the public he can sing a ballad without messing it up terribly like crying. Michael Jackson ballads are not the easiest in the world, as as we have seen, ben cannot do difficult song(of at least that was the excuse given over crying, its hard). If he is doing a upbeat song, then ALW and co clearly know he cannot do ballads, and have given up trying with them.

Can't say I follow your line of reasoning there sweetiepie. Who says ALW is at all interested in playing fair? He gave him a ballad last week, he's still here, so why would he bother giving him the same thing this week? In my opinion, ALW makes some song choices very strategically and some with his eyes closed.

Yes - your right, he is still in the comp even after messing up that ballad, but still, surely if you have a contestant who cannot for the life of him sing a ballad even half well, and you are supposed to be stretching the contestants and seeing different sides to them, you would want to see the side of Ben that can sing a ballad without sounding like a wounded animal.

I will be happy if he has to do a ballad in one of the performances yes - as joseph sings a few balads, then the final 4 really do need to beable to sing slow songs, and manage to stay in tune and not sound pained at the same time. that is my main prob with ben being still in the comp - that he cannot sing a ballad to save his life, if he does one well this week, i will happily admit he did well.

a couple of lines in the sing off - i am talking about managing a performance of a ballad as his song for the show.

He did a good enough job for me there!

He did half of each song, so more than a couple of lines.

To return to the original question. I think almost any of the Final 12 Josephs would make a better Danny than the final two on Grease. They just don't seem to have the strong vocal ability so many of the Josephs have.

But to me it wasn't enough to be proof, if he had sang more of the song rather than the few lines they get in the sing off then fair enough. he was given the chance again to prove he can sing ballads with crying - but proved he can't! if he can sing ballads well, then he should do a ballad on sat and not mess it up.

they don't do a whole song in the sing off - so he actually sang half of the small clip of a song for the sing off. also, the last few lines are sang along side another contestant, so hes not even singing all the lines alone, and not in one continuous performance.

My point is that in an emotionally charged sing off - when he sings with another contestant, one who can sing, he blends ok. he performs ok with the group numbers too.

so if he wasn't blending and couldnt sing it you would be able to hear it??

As from your post you couldnt tell only proves that to you he can sing them as you cant hear any difference from the others
and do you not think a performance would be emotionally charged??

Well, they did about 3/4 of He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother, so not really a 'small clip'.

think you'll find they didn't - they do the same ammount in every sing off - and its not alot.
