....sabotage Lee's chances by giving him poor song choices?

Can't help thinking this is what Lloyd Webber's intentions are to eventually convince the public away from Lee through the judges's & his negative comments in order to pave way to his intended 2 finalists...and I think we know who they are!!

well he could have given Lee *Crying*. I think this week's promotion has been swayed in Lee's favour so I think he has it in the bag

I agree. He's had the best song choices so far.. if he wanted him out, surely he'd have handed him CRYING.

I thought Lee was in his desired final two (preferably winner)?

I don't know, but I honestly hope that in the semi final each of the boys will be given a song that will truely show them at the very best. They've been tested enough now, personally I just want to see just how good they really can be when they get the perfect song.

I think people tend to really overanalyse.....

I would say that as a savvy businessman, ALW wants Lee in the finals. Why would he NOT want him if he's never been in a sing-off, hence obviously one of the voters' favourite?

There's only one show left before the finals! When is this convincing supposed to happen?

Sorry, I am not seeing the logic here.... if that was his plan, he would have given him crap songs weeks ago.....

I agree that Crying is an almost impossible song to pull off well! However, I don't think Lee has always had easy choices at all...

Paint it Black - had potential diaster written all over it! It could have gone either way. A really tricky song to do successfully, I just think Lee made it look easier than it was and I really can't imagine any of the other Josephs managing it as well as Lee did.

Bad Day - far from an easy song to sing

Day dream believer - had to be delivered with half a pound of cheddar on top!

Alright Now - dreadful song, awful song. Could have been abysmal but instead it was just under par!

I don't agree that Lee has had an easy ride with song choices, infact I don't think any of them have! Some of the decisions have been woeful!

I'm not sure he is!

I would be concerned about Lee in a sing off - just praying it never happens!

I agree. At the end of the day Lee is a safe pair of hands who is popular with the public, ALW would be mad to not go with it.

I think that initally, ALW would have loved one of the younger boys to step it up and take it, but none of them have shown that they have the star quality that he's looking for (except Ben, but then there's Ben's questionable vocals). I think that there's an outside chance that Ben and even possibly Lewis could still convince him, but at this stage in the competition, it really looks like Lee is by far ALW's best bet.

I agree he's giving lee crap songs but he's kinda giving everyone crap songs.
he has in his mind who he wants for joseph and will give that joseph the best song and support, i think John is his like his right hand man and has been told who 2 bring down a peg or two, not saying this is the case just my thoughts.
He's using Lewis as a pawn though, to get rid of the copetition for his preferred Joseph, it's going to come back to bite him though as lewis is becoming more and more confident and popular.
I think he favours lee, despite his crap song choice, Lee's tend to be far superior 2 anyone elses

With the end now in sight, I think a lot of us are getting somewhat paranoid and thinking ALW/panel/whoever have got it in for our favourite. I know I'm far from confident about the result. These discussions are popping up more and more and never lead to any conclusion!

My opinion is that we don't and can't know for sure whether ALW has someone in mind or not.

On his latest video diary, Lee sounds very optimistic about this week, says he's got a good song.

So that bodes well

They seem to take it week about, this week was the first time Lee ever did it. It was Keith's week last week. Has Lewis ever done one? If he has I've blanked it out.

Any song is hard if it is not performed well! Or, to put it another way, to say that Lee has good song choices because his performances are consistently good seems a little unfair. Some songs are harder than others and "Crying" is a pig - but that was a good if patchy (frankly I could have cheerfully throttled him for that last note, that was just careless!) performance by Ben.

Good workmen etc. From ALW's perspective, why not take a performer out of their comfort zone and see how they cope - Ben got saved, and that could be because he had to be daunted (if not downright scared) by that song, but got up and gave it a go.

And what, precisely, was easy about singing "You Raise me Up" with JG?
