Are you a real theatre goer or is this a one off?

Just wondered how many of you are real theatre lovers or will you only go and see Joseph and then forget about the beauty of live theatre?

I studied theatres studies (although this wasn't musical theatre) at uni and going to see a live show and been transported into a story is one of the nicest things on this planet.

I go as often as I can afford which sadly is not enough but I have decided after this show I am going to join the local theatre club (block booking tickets are cheaper) and start going again.

Whoever wins I shall put Joesph on my list

Love live theatre, a truly unique experience.

prefer musicals to straight plays but am happy seeing either.

Don't go nearly enough though.

I love going to the theatre - I try and go at least once a year
last went to see We Will Rock You, and this year am hoping to go and see The Sound Of Music and Joseph.
There's nothing better- it;s a great experience and love singing along

I live 40 miles from Edinburgh so I try and go to every big show that comes up here and have done so for 20 years - does that count as a regular theatre goer ?

would love to go to London - maybe when I've got rid of the kids and have me time !!

and yes I have seen Joseph (Philip Schofield)

Loved musicals since I was 4 years old and my Dad sat me down in front of Oklahoma on the telly.

Have performed in and studied theatre at university. I was lucky enough to see every big musical back in the 80's with original cast, either on Broadway or West End.

I am a bit more choos-ey now with the cost of the West End. Wicked was the last one I saw at Christmas and I loved that and got really into it. Sadly, musicals are really in need of new shows, not just retreading old ones over and over.

I look forward to seeing Joseph - though I wouldn't say it's my all time favourite. But I know the kids will love it and that makes it worth the price of the tickets!

I am a bit of a lapsed goer but having said that I'm going to see the lovely Toby Stephens next week at the Almeida. So I'm pleased to be supporting serious theatre (which is the real one in crisis at the moment) as well as musical theatre.

Musical theatre is my passion - prefer to go to the West End but local shows and amateur productions can be as good. I also enjoy straight theatre but as it's so expensive would choose a musical first.
Have already booked to see Joseph in August (45 tickets in all - a lot cheaper by booking a group). Went to see "Billy Elliott for the 4th time a couple of weeks ago.

I love the feeling that i get from seeing someone perform live on a stage. For me it's better than eating chocolate.

I go to the theatre in the west end frequently - not sure if i will go and see joseph, it will depend on which contestant wins as i wouldn't pay to see a show with a weak performer in the lead role.

I've loved musicals ever since I was little, and since I live in London I try and go to the westend as much as I can.

This year I've seen SOM twice, Wicked, Chicago, and Avenue Q. As well as the Fame touring cast, and Equius. Its been a good year in the west end with a variety of different shows and many like Avenue Q and Wicked bringing in a different audience.

I'd LOVE to see a westend revival of Gypsy though, I've never seen it professionally done before and its one of my favourites.

Very much a theatre goer but all in all prefer straight plays than musicals.

Memorable musicals for me were Jesus Christ Superstar (Steve Balsamo was excellent) , Sunset Blvd (John Barrowman simply awesome) , & of course Miss Saigon,

Have to admit never in a million years would I dream of paying to see J A T T D but if Lee wins I'm dragging my nieces & nephews just to have an excuse to see it!

I'm obsessed with theatre! Mainly musicals but recently have got into plays - thanks to seeing the wonderful History Boys last year. Spend FAR too much money on it but hey keeps me out of trouble!! Last show I saw was Evita and next on the list is Billy Elliot

I probably go to the theatre 1 or 2 times a month but also usually plays rather than musicals. I'm lucky there are 2/3 very good theatres within 30 mile radius. I only really go London once a year and then it will be a musical. I would love to take my nieces and nephews to Joseph unfortunately they would prefer Grease (but I shall work on them)

We go all the time which is why we have already booked for Joseph whoever wins. Have seats for bginning of August so he will have had a couple of weeks to settle into it.

Absolutely love musicals and when I lived in London used to meet my Mum and go to matinees - saw Miss Saigon, Cats, Les Mis, Sunset Boulevard....
Now down in the SW and haven't seen much (apart from pantomimes!) as even Plymouth and Bristol are two hours away! Am hoping though to get to Bristol later in the year to see the touring versions of Joseph and Mamma Mia.
Don't miss London really apart from the theatre, the shops, the museums...... but we do have the sea and the moors!

One of the great things about living in London is the ability to see shows on the west end frequently. i remind myself of that when i am stuck on a crowded tube!

Deffo a theatre lover here... just wish I could afford the West End more often!

Saw Wicked last month (But someone treated me) and Drowsy Chaperone this week (previewing, so not too costly - yet).

Not sure if I will actually bother with Joseph. I love ADWD, but there are more deserving (of my cash) musicals out there...

Though far from London I cannot keep away from London theatre when I am down. The West End is a bit dominated by Musicals but there is still such an exhilarating variety...I went recently to The Drowsy Chaerone with Elaine Page and thoroghly enjoyed it..it's kind of a reflection on why people do like musical theatre so has an added layer on top of the storyline. Very, very entertaining though the numbers were (deliberately!) absurd but with some memorable melodies.

Also love lighter opera...but I find The Coloseum in London is perhaps just too enormous a place to retain some of the intimacy of smaller theatres. Their production of On The Town was good but slightly disappointing, I have to say.
Also love farces and serious plays but tend towards traditional stuff...avant garde is a bit too 'difficult' at times!

However all in all, live theatre gives you a buzz that the cinema lacks.

Live about 45mins via train from the West End and I love the theatre - and go as often as I can afford - which is usually once or twice a year.

Actually love all types of live performance, go to a lot of gigs and comedy performances more locally too. Booked for Bill Bailey, Lee Mack, Sean Hughes Take That, Stereophonics and Status Quo (don't ask!) later this year.

As to theatre -

Saw 'Spamalot' and 'Guys & Dolls' last year.

Saw 'Lord Of The Rings' last Saturday. Will be seeing 'Joseph' in July.
