i am going to buy one of these players from thectronics. does anyone know which is better ? the samsung seems to have more problems but is better established. is techtronics a good place to buy from ?

Uh .... what problems exactly
I've had mine for the best part of a year now, and save the annoying habit of the machine 'forgetting' when its in 4.3 or widescreen mode (just means a menu access). i've had no problems at all. Yes i could stop it from doing this if i upgraded the firmware but i can't be bothered, all the discs i have play fine. I don't know about the other player but at least the 709 was software hackable so i didn't need to open it up to get the regions sorted. Guess which one i'd go for. I have the 709 and find it good it is extremly easy to hack using a One 4 all Remote and play's the R1 disks well.

I bought my Pioneer 525 from techtronics and they were excellent.
