Fun Lovin Criminals - Liverpool Carling Academy. 01/06/2007
I had the pleasure of witnessing the 'Fun Lovin Criminals' Live last night. What can I say but they where bloody magical.
My friend and I had trekked, on foot, to the wrong venue, we had mistakenly headed towards Mountford Hall and realised 'this is not the venue'. On finding the doors closed and only finding the people around where students carrying Aldi bags, full of their weekly beans and beer, back to their halls of residence. We made are way to the actual venue after helping a lost couple in a car who where also at the wrong venue ![]() With very sore feet we managed to catch the suport band. A blues band who where not bad. However their name escapes me Then finally at about 9.45pm Huey and the boys appeared and threw straight into 'Korean Bodega'. The crowd cheered but seemed subdued. However by the time 'King of New York' Huey had truely won over the crowd with his wit, charisma and charm. The crowd (including myself) where singing at the top of their lungs 'La di da di free John Gotti, the king of New York the king of New York!' and bouncing in time to the music. About 3 quarters of the way through the set they dropped in 'Scooby Snacks' and we all went nuts. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck as I shouted along with the opening scene from Pulp Fiction, 'If any of you fukers move I'll execute every mother fukin last one of you!'. By the end of the set Huey stood there with a big grin on his face as the crowd chanted 'Huey is a scouser!'. After a small interlude the criminals came back on for an encore and finished off with 'Fun lovin Criminals'.What can I say but a big 10 out of 10 from me. One of the best live bands I have watched and Huey is one of the coolest guys in the world second only to Samuel Jackson
