I don't mean cost wise I mean feature wise. Reading through a few threads it seems alot of people prefer older phones and think cameras, music, tv etc on phones is pointless.

What do you think:
Are phones more unreliable?
Whats the best phone you've had for reliability not features?
Are they to expensive?
Are many of the features pointless?

Be honest and I'll start:

Are phones more unreliable? Yes i think so and battery life these days is terrible.
Whats the best phone you've had for reliability not features? Either Nokia 3310 or Nokia 8310 Might have to get an 8310 again lol
Are they to expensive? I think so yes
Are many of the features pointless? Yeah really I never use my bluetooth or mp3 or camera or play games etc anymore the novolties worn off

Btw please no one post "whats the point of this thread" I'll tell you the point: Its a DISCUSSION.

I prefer the new phones. I use bluetooth, MP3 (M4A actually), Camera, have watched videos and play games on my SE K750i. Couldn't go back the the Bob-basic phones of yesteryear.

Are phones more unreliable? Nope, had no problems with any of my new fangled K800i's and my older K750i

Whats the best phone you've had for reliability not features? K800i, hasn't missed a beat and its used every day.

Are they to expensive?
Nope, always have a contract so they are always free.

Are many of the features pointless?
Nope again, I always look for a phone where I will use the features. Use the Camera for work and leasure. Blue Tooth for hands free and Infa red for transmitting files to printers at work.

Are phones more unreliable? No
Whats the best phone you've had for reliability not features? I've always gone for features such as mp3,camera.
Are they to expensive? I have always paid 60-80 pounds,so not expensive.

Are many of the features pointless? No,I enjoy them. I especially like the ability of being able to use a memory card and add music and wallpaper to it.

Are phones more unreliable? While there is more to go wrong with modern phones hat those 8 or so years ago, there's a lot less to go wrong with an abacus compared to a Sinclair ZX-81.

Whats the best phone you've had for reliability not features? My Nokia N70 was fairly solid. So was my olde Nokia 5110

Are they to expensive?
Phones have always been a similar price. Mind you, the first mainstream PrePay was £150 and all calls 50p per minute!

Are many of the features pointless?
Could't agree less. Bluetooth is essential, I use my 3G internet all day and the camera - while a bit extravagant - is fun to always have around.

BUM! Its packed in! The screen just shows random letters so can't read anything and cant text. The phone book is imposable to read and no numbers show up when dialling people. So its been sent back for replacement by O2. Only 11 months old as well. Oh well back to the trusty K750i now for a couple of days.

I don't think that new phones are as reliable, or as robust, as older ones. I've still got an old Bosch phone the size of a size twelve shoe that has been dropped down the toilet, dropped from the top landing to the floor downstairs, and is still reliable today as it was back in 1996, only the battery only lasts for a day, rather than the 7 days it worked for before.
My k800i has packed in twice since I got it, and it's only 6 months old. My previous phone, a Nokia 6630 packed in once in the 18 months I used it, and crashed several times.
The phone I'm using at the moment, a Nokia 1101 doesn't have any bells and whistles, the battery works for 10 days without charging, it hasn't crashed or failed once, and the sound quality is crystal clear when calling. It's trusty and reliable, and always there for me when my main phone breaks down. As I've unlocked it, I can also use it on any network I'm currently subscribed to, plus, anyone that I lend it to while their own phone is broken, can instantly use it without any hastle.
On top of that, it's small and light, and I really can't speak highly enough of it, even if it doesn't have bluetooth, MMS, a camera or a radio or MP3 player. It does have a flashlight, so I can see in the fuse cupboard when the lights blow. Moral of the story? Ditch your N95s, k800is, Chocolates and Rzrs, and get yourself a Nokia 1101, they're grrrreeeaaattt!

I think the only feature I can't stand on today's mobile phones is the MP3 loudspeaker.
Great when using proper music as a ringtone but not so great when little chav scum inflict their crappy dance or RnB (why do they have no taste in music?) rubbish on everyone (especially on buses). Rant over
