You need iTunes on your PC (available as a free download from the Apple website)
You can then "rip" your CDs with itunes to your PC.
Or you can buy tracks from the itunes website at 79p a track
You connect the ipod to the PC and the music will be transferred over to the ipod.
Eh?

Where does it say it's an iPod?

If it's not an iPod ..... ignore the above! ^^^

What kind of player is it?

It'll most likely be drag and drop, so have you plugged it into your pc? It'll probs be a removeable drive in the "My Computer" menu.

The Samsung bit is just who makes the actual memory chip inside.

You can 'rip' cd's onto your computer. Although its called ripping, it wont do any damage or anything to the disc.

Im assuming your on windows...you can rip cd's using windows media player, however, i use itunes. You dont need an ipod to use itunes.

The files that you get of the cd will most likely be in My Music. All you do then, is open my computer, open the new drive (the mp3 player), and drag-and-drop from my music to the mp3 player.

BUT-if you do use itunes, and buy from the itunes store, you will need to put the purchased music on a cd first, then rip that cd.

Also, you may need to do that with other download services if the mp3 player isnt "Plays for sure" compatible(will say if it is on the box).

Once the music is on, you can disconnect, and start listening. Im not sure about video with these devices though-did it come with a cd? There might be conversion software on there.

It looks like a basic Drag&Drop the songs on the player. It says it comes with a manual so it would probably be best to read that first.

LOL i did read the manual first.. it's hilarious to read actually as it's translated from Japenese?? to English and not 'that' well i might add!

I'm actually having real trouble with it.. i figured out that it's drag and drop.. but my PC seems to think it's a CD drive.. it's on My Computer as 'removable disk F' i dragged and dropped some of the music from 'my music' on to it.. and a box came up like it was downloading it.. but i can't find the music anywhere on the actual player..

when i look on the computer it shows it's on there or at least i think it does.. the names of the songs are there anyway with the other files and bits on it already.. but when you look on the player it's not showing..

also everytime i switch the PC on now it keeps saying i have cd's waiting to burn to disk!!

maybe i should be asking about this in a different thread

My advice is to just give the player to your son and he'll put the music on it himself.

If you double click on it you'll probably find it has various folders, for music, video etc. Navigate to the music one and drop mp3's etc in there, the video folder for vids. My Creative Zen is set out this way.

I sell those in various designs and capacities - plastic, metal, larger display etc.. even cell phone and pda variations, with optional SD card readers, default design is up to 4GB memory, and plays movies in AMV, add a few pounds more and there are AVI versions. I also have solar power charges and other accessories e.g. spare battery for these, and bulk discount available for traders etc... if interested PM me...

However important that to get the best out of it....

when you connect it to any w2000 or XP or Vista machine, the player appears in explorer as a removable drive.

just drag and drop or copy and paste the mp3 files into the root folder of the removable drive not into any sub folders,

(if you use sub folders then you have to navigate between folders to listen to the various songs)

do not ever format the drive - it will kill the device.
