The Samsung bit is just who makes the actual memory chip inside.
You can 'rip' cd's onto your computer. Although its called ripping, it wont do any damage or anything to the disc.
Im assuming your on windows...you can rip cd's using windows media player, however, i use itunes. You dont need an ipod to use itunes.
The files that you get of the cd will most likely be in My Music. All you do then, is open my computer, open the new drive (the mp3 player), and drag-and-drop from my music to the mp3 player.
BUT-if you do use itunes, and buy from the itunes store, you will need to put the purchased music on a cd first, then rip that cd.
Also, you may need to do that with other download services if the mp3 player isnt "Plays for sure" compatible(will say if it is on the box).
Once the music is on, you can disconnect, and start listening. Im not sure about video with these devices though-did it come with a cd? There might be conversion software on there.
