Sinead O'Conner quits music for good
Yep, it was in the Daily Mirror today. She has officially decided to finish her singing career. I have to admit that I didn't particularly liked her music, but its always a bit saddening when a singer decides he/she is going to pack it all in.

Bearing in mind her last "hit" was back in May 1997 (the 'Gospel Oak EP'... no, I don't remember that either) and the last time she rocked the charts in any big way was back in 1990 with Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U, I already thought she HAD given up singing.
So many artists just stop releasing songs and that's the end of it. Why does O'Connor think she is special enough to warrant announcing to the world that she is quitting singing? |

She must be looking for some publicity for whatever her next project is. I can't see her just doing nothing. Is there any hint of what is next in the pipeline?

Yes she's releasing a final DVD soon called something like "Thank you for being an audience" or something.

I can confirm it now. Her last DVD is called "Goodbye, thank you, you've been a lovely audience" and is to be released in July. It features a live show and documentaries of all her songs.

I didn't actually think she was that popular in the first place though.

Bit confused here. I thought she'd already packed it in to become a 'Catholic Priest'. Was she running these two careers in tandem.
Actually, I heard on the radio that she wants to stop being a celebrity and go back to private life. When Pop stars 'retire' they never stick to it. I remember that the Princess of Wales did this about a year before her death as a publicity stunt (from that point on she was never out of the news.) So I guess we'll be hearing a lot more of Sinead from now on

Thats right, she said she wants to be ignored if anyone recognises her in the street. I also thought she had already packed it in when she became a priest.
