Going to Dublin next week for overnight stay
ney

I will be in Dublin a week tomorrow for an overnight stay. Im on 02 pay and go and have just registered for 02 my europe which I should have done when I was in Amsterdam for 2 days back in February. Anyway anyone know what the phone service will be like in Dublin and I take it 02 my europe also covers Dublin and whats the texting cost to text someone just to say I have arrived ok. My europe seems to be just for phoning I think. I was last in Dublin in 95 on a day trip and never had a mobile phone then.

O2 IRL is fine just like at home, remember to stay on O2 Ireland though for the free incoming calls and cheap rates

If you have "My Europe" to call back to the UK or receive a call while on the O2 Ireland network costs 35p per minute.

Text messages are 49p per text, though you can reduce this by signing up free to the Euro Bolt On which will take it down to 39p.

If you reckon you're going to use your phone a fair bit taking and texting, it may be worth while taking the Ireland Bolt On, which costs £1.99 a month. With this, all calls to UK landlines and mobiles are charged at your standard rate while in the Irish Republic while receiving a call is free of charge.

I will not be phoning a lot just at Dublin airport when I arrive and just before im due to get the plane home. I may text a few times though. Im only going to Ireland for an overnight say so it may not be worth taking the Ireland Bolt On as I dont go to Ireland that often. Just once in a very odd while.

You can use the Ireland Bolt-On for just one month if you want. Just remember to cancel it back in the UK before the next month's fee is due. At least if nothing else, 6-7 text messages will cover it plus you'll also be able to answer any calls free of charge.
