Voip Stunt?
Hi all,
Am new to this forum but in need of some practical advice. I signed up/downloaded VoipStunt a week ago. Purchased 10 euro of credit and got their 120 free days service. This allows you up to 300 minutes per 7 days of free calls to various countries, listed on their homepage. since last Monday, I've called various numbers, most in the UK but a few in US, Germany and holland- all for free. Then last night I tried to call a number on Germany and got a message saying "fair use policy exceeded" and they were charging me for the call. I tried calling a UK number and then a US number and both these came up as free. I thought that when the 7 day period had passed- ie today, Tuesday- my free calls would be reinstated but when I tried this morning got the same problem- any destination apart from US or UK is coming up as being charged for. There is barely any information in their FAQs about this fair use policy but I haven't used it excessively or fruadulently and they are impossible to contact- have tried emailing them but received nothing back. any advice, insights, info,, anything which might explain this situation to me would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks. |

The FUP covers a 7 day rolling period, so it could be that you have exceeded that over the last 7 days

FUP = Fair Usage Policy
I dont think there is a 'next' period, the 7 day period is a rolling period eg Monday to Sunday Tuesday to Monday and so on......... |

I dont think there is a 'next' period, the 7 day period is a rolling period eg Monday to Sunday Tuesday to Monday and so on......... Well today is Tuesday and i'm still getting the message "fair use policy exceeded" when I try to make calls anywhere apart from US or UK. I have faxed the head company behind Voip about this but it seems no one wants to actually provide an answer that makes any sense. They give no information whatsoever as to what constitutes excessive use or how you're supposed to know when you're approaching any limits. This seems incredibly unfair and impossible for anyone to know what's going on. Thanks for your help anyway

If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. Are you calling from the same IP address? |

From their site

If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. Are you calling from the same IP address? Nope, I change it regularly. They haven't replied to my fax either. This is really annoying that I can't get any kind of straight info from them yet all calls except for US/UK ones are being charged for. I am now into the 8th day since signing up- so the 7-day period referred to in the above text you quoted is not valid. there is no information in my account page with them which says when, if at all, my free calls will be back. It does state that I now have 113 free days left. So it's all very confusing and irritating. Fortunately most of the calls I need to make are actually to the UK or US so at least I'm still able to makr these. But they are violating their own terms and conditions and are uncontactable to ask questions of

Not sure what's happening here, I use VoIPStunt as my main service and not come across this, though I don't use their software I use it via an ATA, as I have cable broadband and it is used as my phone service.

This is the point I am trying to make. The 300 minutes are calculated over the last 7 days from now, it is valid. So if you have made more than 300 mins of calls since wednesday of last week, there are no more free ones left.
I dont have voipstunt, but it's sister service voipcheap, and with that you can look at your call history I use my service a fair amount, and haven't come across the problem, seems strange that for some there seems to be the rolling 300mins limit. I don't have this, I can make several 60 min calls one day, several another etc, and still have no problems later on. Might be worth the OP asking in: http://forum.voipbuster.com - This forum caters for all the Betamax services. |

Hello rhicel,
Sadly, I only tend to call uk numbers and have never experienced what you describe. I can understand how frustrating it must be, not being able to get an answer. Hope you get to the bottom of it. Graham |
