Surefire vote winners - advice for future competitors

As a homage to the thread on how to lose this sort of show, what top tips would you give future contestants on how to win; and what would you like to see more of in this kinda show (BBC take notes please!)?

To start the ball rolling...

All contestants should make the most of the opportunity and their talent - why were some 'holding themselves back' at the start? Give 100% from day one!

I would like to see the contestants be allowed to choose a song themselves - perhaps the last 6 should've been able to?

I loved the first few programs where they go thru the auditionees - perhaps a small 'profile' on them in a Terminator style, i.e. their name, dob, experience etc on the screen.

Much much more day to day stuff in the house - a 24 hour feed would be ideal but perhaps a little too intrusive as it's NOT BB, thank goodness.

Definately a midweek update on BBC2 and a talky show afterwards like they do for The Apprentice.

Keep Graham - he's fantastic, but bring in a proper theatre critic from one of the Broadsheets.

Over to you......

Do away with the pre-contest shows where we get to see all those that didn't make it (I hope this is not a trend!).

Have each contestant sing, act, and dance in each show - not just singing, so we really get to see the good all-rounders.

I like the idea of a spin-off show like It Takes Two - they could show all the backstage stuff here and that would make room for the acting and dancing.

Have the contestants do more show song performances - and les pop.

But these are all suggested changes to the show format. I don't think the contestants themselves can do more - they're already doing their best.

True, I think I should've called it 'Oi BBC, this is what we'd like....' or something a bit more polite!
