The BBC programme 'Fake Britain' has been featuring a Swansea company who have been duping Sky subscribers, especially pensioners, into 'renewing warranties' with fraudulent intent. Well done to Swansea Trading Standards. Result!!

I know this scam exists and, since a company called satellite4u started sending mum reminders to renew her cover, and calling her, I began to think it was a con. I ignored all contact, as mum was sure she had not taken out cover, as was I. This evening we got another call, and I told mum to put the phone down. Called back immediately and, when I spoke to her, she said mum had been covered since 2011, when she spoke to a guy called Andrew, and her insurer was AXA. No mention of DG. I was told she paid £5.50 monthly, and she even gave me the password on the account - on not one occasion has anyone ever gave ME my password - and it was one I recognise. I was given a reference number, and a telephone number, to cancel, which I did. I shall check mum's account for DDs, and see if the amount has been debited. She definitely did not take out a policy. I shall contact sky as, although this company does exist, it is not the recommended insurance by sky. The lady told me that sky cannot provide cover, so her company was doing it for them. Any input? I am convinced this is a scam, and am hoping nothing else will ensue.

Superb experience with D & G for Sky Protect Cover.
Elderly neighbour experiencing severe problems with 2009 Sky HD box - also poor Sky
internet connection.
He has no Sky cover.
Phoned Sky am Thursday -confirmed a visit was required - would need £65 for visit which entailed a likely replacement box which would be guaranteed for 6 months.
Enquiries on internet revealed D&G would give 12 months full cover for £88.
Phoned D&G, explained the outcome of the Sky enquiry - full cover offered - engineer would visit two days later on Saturday pm
Engineer called - replacement box installed - examination the router was in the wrong room -moved and new phone connections installed - outcome
one extremely happy pensioner - all problems fixed - complete peace of mind for the next twelve months.
No long delay between obtaining Sky cover and sorting out all the issues-sky engineer
left contact number in the event of a problem.
Superb service.

Well done that guy, I had a similar experience when I had a prob with my downstairs box,
I only had a single feed to the upstairs box.
Asked how much to put another feed in, he not only ran new cable, double feed to the upstairs box, but I got a brand new dish to boot.
Total cost?
Zilcho, already covered he said nice man, REALLY nice man.
Well chuffed
