I usually don't like conspiracy theories and I may be completely wrong, but it all felt like a deal to me - you give us the quotes we need to spice this thing up, we'll give you the ending that will kick start the career in TV you want. Katie gets what she wants - fame, Sir Alan gets a programme everyone will talk about without any danger of having to work with the woman. And BBC 3 get some tut programme where 'Princess Katie' goes round offending people and we all are meant to enjoy seeing people shout back at her. Oh goodie.”
I totally agree with the first part of your post. The boardroom scene was so obviously staged. A similar conversation may have taken place off air, but if it
really happened like that, 1) SAS would have - and should have - been much more angry, and 2) the producer would have said "hang on a minute" and stopped rolling while the matter was discussed. I think perhaps Simon & Kristina were genuinely hearing it for the first time though, but Katie & SAS knew what they were going to say.
I'm so cross with Katie. !!!!! And SAS too. What a sheer bloody waste of everybody's time. Surely Katie should have thought all her practical arrangements through. The very fact that she hadn't should have angered SAS and if he was really struggling to choose between Katie, Simon & Kristina, he had a perfect get-out with Katie. Why on earth didn't he take it?
Maybe the second part of your post has some truth in it. But if so, it makes a mockery of the programme & I'm disappointed that SAS was party to it.
I'm also cross at the position Simon & Kristina have been put in. How embarrassing!
Exciting telly, yes, but it's just not right.
