I think it was pre-planned, well not intentionally, I just think they may have re-shot Katie declining the offer. Think about it, after offering her a place in the final - how did Sir Alan know to turn to her again and ask if her if this is what she wanted, kind of asking her if she would give up her spot for the other two. I can imagine Sir Alan fuming, shouting etc. and berating her for wasting his time because she didn't actually want the job, so they may have 'acted' part of it to make it less controversial?

The two more genteel intervewers were impressed by Simon's style and homework. Though even they caught on he was an aimless drifter. The point was that its the tough, man of the world, interviewer who concludes she is tough enough to get the job done and tougher than the competition. He's the one Katie shouldn't have been able to fool. Another is that one of the first two reached the opposite conclusion - that she was too good for the job
Something funny is going on too because the less robust interviewers wonder why she is going for the job and push the family argument- to which the answer is she 's no different on what they should know than Ruth or Michelle. They may be pushing it because they got a telling off after their interviews of Michelle,. The questions are rather too related to the issue of whether Katie wants the job though which they shouldn't know about and it looks like its informed by the ending.

Not to mention she's now managed to redirect all the attention that should be on the final 2 on to herself and completely overshadow the fact that the winner is revealed next week.
I did think so at the time. Katie isn't really the sort of person to back down in public. I think that a deal had been made well before that show.

That is so odd it would also stand out when all the CVs were first sent to the programme makers and make them interested in her. Using it in bad taste but it got her noticed and onto the programme.

On Breakfast this morning Katie said she would not have put that on a CV but this was an application for a television reality programme.
It appears the reason she put it is as you indicate. Even so, not a nice thing to include.

Was listening to James Max on Talksport early this morning. He said that Katie actually did go off and make a few phone calls after she got the final place from Ralan.
It was actually quite some time later that she then decided to "resign". Why did they edit it to look as though her decision was instantaneous? For dramatic effect? Hmm

If she had time to go and make phone calls that implies that the session had ended and one of the others had already been fired, and the two of them were then called back to hear her speech. I haven't heard that said anywhere else. If that's the case it's even worse, allowing one of them to actually be fired before resigning.

I work in recruitment myself and if I came across a form where someone was boasting of their ability to steal husbands, i'd have a good laugh and then throw it in the bin.

Oh dear.If they knew she didn't want the job what on earth right have they to tell SAS . They don't work for him - they are observers. On the other hand if Katie had not wanted to wotk for SAS for the 6 months trial they could have been left with no final. Looks like making a TV programme triumphs over making reality TV.

the impression I got from what James Max was saying was that the filming was stalled whilst she went off to "make phone calls". I'd hate to think that he fired (and then rehired) either Kristina or Simon...

I thought her NotW interview was pretty tame (except I really hated her 'the true winner' line - I really think less of the programme for playing into her hands on that). I can't really see her as a Jordan/Jade Goody tabloids and Heat celebrity, though I may be wrong. I can imagine her as one of those rent a quote people who turn up on Richard and Judy and Loose Women with an opinion on anything - like Vanessa Feltz or Amanda Platell. I also can't see her turning up on children's TV like Saira and I struggle to believe she'll get her own show, but I never understand why certain people are celebrities and not others - I'd be really interested in what other people think.
