Katie redeemed herself tonight

Telling Katie she had got through was purely SirAlan's way of getting her to reveal her true feelings about the job. He skillfully got Katie to admit she was not prepared for taking on a job with the company. Would she have voluntarily come out with that admission? I don't think so. 1-0 to SAS.

The reality is she did *not* make it to the final and certainly didn't win. She made it to the final three, that's all.

Sir Tat did not skillfully catch Katie out, far from it. He, and the people who interviewed her, could see that Katie was clearly too good for the position she was applying for, which was what made them all suspicious. That's why they all had reservations about her, because they knew if she did accept the job, she would only use it as a stepping stone to something far better. Despite these reservations Sir Tat put her through to the final because he knew how capable she was.

Like all the other contestants in beginning, Katie believed she had a good chance of winning the competition, which is why she didn't really think through the implications of moving her family to fit around the job. But once Sir Tat had put her through to the final, she suddenly realised the enormity of the situation, which is why she walked away. To someone like Katie, who loves the challenge and the thrill of the chase, the prize on offer wasn't good enough to warrant her and family uprooting. That is why she walked away.

Whether you love her or hate her, Katie was clearly the most talented and savvy amongst the applicants. She was clever, personable, calm, quick witted, ruthless, professional and driven. The same cannot be said of all the other contestants apart from Lohit. And to me, his firing was the most ridiculous action taken and sums up just how poor Sir Tat's judgement really is.

The show needs to get rid of Sir Tat and his tat companies, and replace him with a respected businessman whose company is a byword for quality - something non of Sir Tat's companies are.

As an individual I liked Lohit too, but you have to remember that we have been shown a very small proportion of what is effectively an ongoing job interview...
Quote:
“Lohit couldn't even answer simple matters such as profit and loss account details in respect of my companies.

Lohit had to go. He's a nice fellow and all that but people have been saying to me the whole way through this series "When are we ever going to see something from him?" He's one of those guys you come across in companies who's liked by everyone and never offends. But when you ask what they do, no one has a clue.

He got into the habit of talking too much jargon. I don't think he knew what he was saying half the time. Mind you, he'd be a good contender for a newsreader - on a day when there was no news around but they still needed to fill the time.”

Those facts would concern me also.

and referring to Katie

Quote:
“....It's clear she was there to win and show how clever she was but not for the actual job. I had doubts about her a few times in the past weeks and should really have stuck to my instinct and got rid of her earlier.

But, if someone keeps telling me, after me piling on all the obstacles, that everything is going to be OK, then what can I do? You have to have some faith in mankind.'”

Speaks for itself.

I think Katie's spin on it made her look foolish - as if anyone would seriously enter such a situation without organising the logistics and childcare in advance...let alone someone as apparently intelligent as Katie
She made a huge mistake in thinking anyone would seriously buy that kind of story.

Completely agree... there was nothing gracious about anything she did... purely selfish and for her own means. Horrible, spiteful, vile woman.

Personable?! You obviously have a different dictionary to me. I've never really thought being a two-faced bigoted bitch made someone personable. She might be able to fool some people with that simper of hers, but you know she's bitching about them behind their backs about how easily they're taken in.

err the man she was having an affair with, and later had children with, and married - after all she gained that salary working in his company
I wonder what job she was doing for the Met Office after The Apprentice? and what salary she was on there?

Apologies I missed out the link for the quotes in my post above, they're taken from Alan Sugar's column this week in The Mirror on line.

What actually makes you say that? what did she do in the whole 11 weeks to prove herself? You all seem to be basing your assumptions on her constant assertions about how good she is and how ruthless and how driven.

Well any of us can say it but you actually have to deliver aswell!

they only won the dog task because Rory was so awful
her team lost a number of tasks where she was a key factor in the loss (e.g. the French task, the trainers)
When they won the selling task she sold a total of 2 rugs - Kristina and Naomi actually made the bulk of the money

so I'm really at a loss to see why everyone thinks she's so good

I think she's an absolutely vile person inside and out but if she had actually performed I would have to say 'fair enough'

And, if you think about it, she should have been in the boardroom four times in a row (and would have been fired one of them):

Art task (errr..... didn't sell anything)
France task (swanning off with Paul with the non-French speakers abandoned)

Negotiation - quite good in the task, but then went needlessly crazy-mad in the boardroom with her hatred.

Advert - no good ideas, despite being a brand consultant

Oh purleeze do you REALLY believe all of that?? After the crap he told about his global businesses I don't believe a word he says. For such an athlete (boxing clips and comments) it is funny how we see him smoking in the series.

He is, as that guest on You're Fired put it so eloquently, a bullshitter.

He never lied in the interviews, he said his family business failed, he was working from a home office in the UK to keep his costs low, and that he worked from different offices around the world. He never said that he has a global business if you watched the show. That man Paul was the one who said that. He was just interpreting Tre's words and laughed at him because he just assumed reading Tre's CV that he is not a serious candidate. The interviews are edited to make the fired candidates look as weak as possible.

About the accident, I believe it is True. You can't lie about that in national TV. Both his friends talked about it. Also, if he made that up, why didn't he use it in the interviews in his favour?

She got the first place in the final. How is that taking a battering or being found out?

Redeem herself? Oh please - she did exactly as she planned to do all along, theatrics and all. I hope she enjoys her future career in panto, turning up at the opening of an envelope (like the rest of the Z list "celebrities") and spot at presenting on a cable channel only "Mavis" bothers to watch.

I don't see how she could have planned that, unless she was controlling Alan Sugar with her demented flirting (and I think that's pretty unlikely).

Her aim was publicity and she got it. Gameplayer through and through.

Why would you single Katie out when they're all on a a reality *TV* show?

After AS told her that she was in the final, he said something like "remember what you've promised me and remember all the things we've discussed". It was only after that that she had 'second thoughts'. I think that he had previously made her promise (on video and in front of witnesses) that she would accept the job and tie herself to a fixed term contract if she won. She obviously had no intention of doing that.
I really don't think that she redeemed herself at all. She was acting to form!

Um.. remember that fool Nasty Nick from BB1 banging on about his wife dying, etc, on national television??? I know that was an entirely different kettle of fish to The Apprentice, but still, i beg to differ.

We didn't see the entire interview process anyway - maybe he did mention it.

Yes indeed that bra woman seemed to suck up to every male guest when she's on there.

She may sell bras but I'm guessing her knickers are free

I have to say, that after watching the Apprentice, i do like Katie, for the following reasons:

She is a very intelligent lady
She has a nice personality
She is Mature

The Only problem i had with her is could i trust her if i was to work with her?! because she would stab you in the back straight away, i think thats quite apparent.

Also she does have a very good job at the moment, but has she only got that job, because he is supporting his children by giving her a large salary, then maybe he doesnt have to give her much or any keep?, so maybe there is an alterior motive behind her employment?

She DID get through to the final 2, because once Sir Alan said to her you are in the final 2, when he then questioned her, if she had said im fine, i want the job, then he couldnt do anything about it, he couldnt go back on the decision, because then it wouldnt be fair on any of the other contestants that had already left the room. so she would have defeanately been in the last 2.
