Sir Alan

Did anyone notice the three interviewers last night referring to and calling Sir Alan as 'Alan' . I take it you have to wait to be given special permission to call him this. What do Nick and Margaret call him? I've not specifically noticed.

I've heard Nick refer to him as 'Alan' several times, not sure about Maragaret.

Probably because they knew him before he got his knighthood.

I call him Alan too - but I've been working with him for 23 years now. In part it's because I knew him before the knigthood but in part it's because you don't call a friend "Sir". I know Bordan and Nick very well (and Claude a bit from a few years ago). Nick truly is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet - an utter gentlemen of the old school - though I was kind of surprised by him on the YF show last night! Equally Bordan is a thoroughly nice guy which I think came through in his interviewing and character summaries last night. They all call Alan, "Alan".

Who's the unshaven one? I'm glad he wasn't interviewing me, I found him extremely rude.
