Something about there has to be 5 people in camp (to keep us all amused?)

AWT has made a soup ... Cat not yet back from trial

And they have been reminded never to go alone to the pool (Toyah came up with this from somewhere)

Anthony is talking about his time when he was working in a prision. Toyah is joining in, she has performed in a prison too. She's spoken to political prisioners and was amazed on how intelligent they were.

Woz says that VPs (sex offenders etc) have better treatment than others.

And Toyah refers to murderers, thugs and gangsters as "political prisoners". I used to like her but I'm not so sure now.

re. the BT trial.

******SPOILER******

Cat completed the trial and won 10 meals

******SPOILER******

- Phil and Fashanu talk about meditation and Fash's skill at martial arts. He's a black belt, second dan or something and they seem to be getting on well.

- Wayne Sleep puts on his tap shoes, rolls out a mat and leads a dance class for the group. Daniella also takes to the mat and performs some steps, as does Toyah.

- Cat asks Toyah to teach her some steps and they wander off to look for a flat surface on which to dance.

- Wayne and Chris are off to search for the trunk. Chris fills his water gun and takes it with him.

Hi all,

On a related subject, does anybody have any suggestions as to why a message occasionally pops up on the ITV2 live coverage during the day that says something like "the sound or picture may be temporarily suspended for legal reasons" ?

And the sound/pic does indeed stop for 10 or 20 secs sometimes.

Could the "live" coverage actually be artificially delayed for a minute or two, with someone watching for any swearing or nudity or whatever that would not be appropriate for daytime viewing and then muting the sound/blanking the pic to deal with it?

Fazza.

It's standard practice for all streaming reality shows, such as Big Brother, Fame Academy, The Salon etc.

The live feed is often delayed by about 10 - 15 minutes, and this allows production team and lawyers to monitor the output, and decide if any of it contravenes ITC guidelines (ie, swearing before the watershed), libel against individuals or companies, and other such things. From watching this afternoon, it might also include music clearance because they dropped the sound from their 'caberet performance' they did to earn wine and chocolate, suggesting that Granada haven't got a blanket agreement with MCPS which Endemol had to get for their shows, meaning that they have to apply for any music used on an individual basis.

The music thing is because of this ridiculous new law about performing songs in public. Now, they have to pay a fee, even if someone hums a recognisable song to themselves and its picked up by the microphones, they have to cut the sound.

crazy law.

last years BB would have had to cut the sound when they were singing 'sexy..your so sexy', or whatever, because of this new law.

The new law you are thinking of hasn't passed parliament yet.

However, they are clearly cutting any singing from ITV2, whilst allowing it on ITV1. I guess the idea is that ITV2 is cheap TV, and they don't want the additional cost.

It's going to come down to cost. It'll cost Granada next to nothing to replay the whole thing, because they'll just cache the live output onto a video server to show later, but to get the whole thing re-edited would cost them quite a bit. I know this because the channel I work for does a repeat screening throughout the following day using Granada's Manchester tx suite, so I've seen how they go about doing this.
