VoIP and TalkTalk
I'm thinking of getting TalkTalk broadband (yes, I've read the horror stories, but I'm willing to risk it for the cheapness) and was wondering what experiences people have of using VoIP (not Skype, proper SIP-based VoIP) through them?
I'm hoping that they don't block it, what with them also providing phone services... |

It was a while back when I had TalkTalk broadband, though I did manage to escape without penalty due to their dreadful broadband.
They prioritise web and email, but then often even that crawls. Trying to do anything else on their system was ropey, wasn't reliable enough for me to use VoIP on them. Due to ropey service meant calls breaking up, too much delay, no matter whether you tried to use a decent codec or a highly compressed codec (which added slightly more delay). Whether they have improved recently I don't really know. I thought I'd risk them for the cheapness, I learnt my lesson pretty quickly. |
