my speakers for the technics dolby digital reciever sa-dx940 are speaker system with code sb-ht140 8 ooms etc are these good speakers or should i get better ones maybe this is why they dont sound as good as my old speaker which were 6 ooms 3 way bass reflex ones which is best out of the two and should i try my older speakers instead of the ones that come with digital system?

The Ohm value for the speaker is simply its impedance. A 8 ohm speaker will be easier to drive than a 6 ohm. Saying that your reciever should be able to drive speakers from 6 to 8 ohms.

Whatever speakers you use make sure the front three are the same make to ensure you have tonal balance. Its also worth getting the best centre speaker you can afford as a lot of the audio info ie speech comes through this.
