Sony 860 - timer reseting
MrBUK

My Sony 860 has worked fine upto now however over the last couple of weeks it has developed an annoying 'fault'

When setting for a timer recording - Ipress the timer button on the EPG item and it sets but a few seconds later it resets to show 'Timer' again and there is no timer set.

The only work around I have found is to unplug the machine this allows me to set the timer but a few days later I am back at square one.

Has anyone else suffered or know whats causing this effect?

Covered this in a previous thread. Happens to me too, but only on the channels that are transmitting the new series link info BBC and CH4). Look in your timer list; you'll find a long list of "unresolved" entries created when you tried to set the timer.

Unplugging is probably clearing down some of the EPG info so it sets a timer based on the timer and date of the programme instead of waiting for the programme start trigger.

Setting a manual timer instead of via the EPG is a work around but this should be resolved bya firmware fix (it might have been in the latest 1.0.9 one, I've not had the porblem since I got that firmware).

Thanks for the response.

However the timer list is empty - did have the unresolved problem a few weeks ago and cleared that - although the effect I am getting now is similar.

Sofware on mine is 1.0.9

Im on 1.0.10 and had this same problem yesterday. Switching the machine off and on sorted it but is there a resolution that will stop this happening? Nothing in the unresolved list.

I know its happened previously, but it seemed to resolve itself that time
