hi techwood are a company that buy broken TV's of people and then refurbish them and sell them as new (so i am told)
Techwood is yet another 'badge' put on cheap imported sets, I think it's Woolworths group that use it?. |

Woolworths and Ebuyer sell them, some are rebadged Thomsons and some aren't (Vestel rebadged I wonder?)
as for buying broken TV's and re-selling them !..... that did make me chuckle |

same thing if you ask me, they are still not brand new built from scratch. There was a place in Croydon but they have moved now.
They're built (NEW) by a company called Vestel (usually, or Thomson) and sold with a Techwood badge on the front. The Techwood badge, branding and packaging is all done by Vestel, so officially it's built by scratch. Haven't a clue what you're talking about in Croydon, but you're mistaken. The Techwood items you'll see on the high street are brand new products. |

I'm surprised that anyone would think that badging a new product is considered the same as buying up old broken tv's and repairing and reselling them.

I'd like a manual for my TV too, the 3711 that I got for £289 from Cash Converters yesterday. Impressed so far, especially for the price paid

techwood is a dsg store brand, they seem to have ditched matsui in favour of this and 'logik' is the other one they use as well

Techwood are indeed a rebadge, same as Asda's ONN and Durabrand products. Not sure if they are specific to any one store group though as I have seen Techwood equipment sold through Woolworths, Curry's and online.
Like most of these budget rebranded hardware model numbers and designs change often, depending on where the store can source them. Onn products for example change quite often. I bought a 19inch Onn LCD TV from Asda a few months ago but the ON/OFF switch failed, when I took it for replacement the design had changed (as had the on screen menus and features, but it was the same price) and they just replaced it with the new one that didn't look quite as high tech to me. Works fine though. |

Yes, Woolies were selling Techwoods a couple years back which apparently were Thomson built LCD's with Techwood name stuck over the Thomson label..... I don't think it was a DSG owned name.... but these days you can't tell unless it's a big name and even then many of the smaller LCD's from large name companies still seem to be rebadged Vestels or similar.

I'd be interested to see who the 3711 was made by, I've emailed Vestel to see if it was them, but as yet, no reply
