The one that has just closed I saw in March. It was fabulous. Elena Roger is Argentinian and to beat her would be very, very difficult. If you think Lee Mead sexy then by you would have loved the recent Che.

No, that one cannot be revived so soon using wannabees - however good the wannabees are .

I like the idea of a touring show.

I think Sunset Boulevard would be fantastic - and it's high time it came back into the West-End. John Barrowman was amazing in that role. The Search for Joe Gillis - brilliant. And I agree that a touring production of it - perhaps starting in the West-End would be a brilliant idea - so that everyone in the UK can get chance to see the winner that they voted for.

I'd like to see them cast Jean Valjean (from Les Mis), but that's about as likely as Ming Campervan winning the next election.

I think if they do one it has to be instantly recognisable though. To MT fans like i imagibe most people on this forum are, we all know the musicals, the songs for them and we can all associate with them.

Everyone knows Joseph (i read somewhere that 90% of kids will either see it or be in a version of it) and everyone knows the sound of music. People are aware of shows such as Les Mis and Sunset Boulevard, but i dont know of they would pull in the audiences as much...

Noooooooo - Les Mis is far too good a musical for them to mess around with!

I just don't think it's a "sunny" enough musical to sell to the general public and the kids watching. Both Sound of Music and Joseph are child oriented.... And Grease for that matter....

I think your probably right. SOM is such a popular musical as is Joseph. I think West Side Story could possibly work. Or maybe something like Fame which is very mainstream and crowd pleasing, its a shame that the stage show isn't really that good really...

Starlight Express could work. That is quite popular... My school took our whole year to it and my younger sister saw it too.

Starlight express would be amazing but pretty much impossible i would imagine! its hard enough to get a singer who can dance well, but one who could rollerskate!?!?

Nooooooo! They haven't actually "done" a musical I like yet; and when/if it happens, I'll be so annoying. There's no way they'd find a Valjean in open auditions. Or a Phantom either, for that matter.

I think looking for a Tony/Maria would be a great idea, because it's a wonderful musical, for young and fresh leads. Finding a Tony would be harder than a Maria though!

There was something in The Sun the other week with Graham Norton dressed up in a Saturday Night Fever get up. I think this would be great, as I could see all the guys wearing different coloured shirts, and them being torn off to 'Tragedy' at the end.

I don't think any future shows need to involved ALW. As long as the BBC keep the format as good as it as been with Maria and Joseph, I could see this being a sucess for a long time to come.

They could do Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and end the series after about 4 programs when they'd got it down to the last 14 competitors

Or Five Guys Named Moe and have five winners ...

etc etc

I think West Side Story would be a great idea. Maybe if ALW is too busy with Phantom 2 they could get Cameron Macintosh involved. He's about the only other producer with as much experience.

I think chicago could definitely work, although if we're back with women again then it could dip in popularity...

also, i think if not done properly, chicago has the potential to become trashy and GITW-like.

i read an interview with ALW, he said he wants to revive Jesus Christ Superstar. BUT he dosnt believe the BBC could broadcast a show where Graham Norton says

" YOU COULD BE JESUS"

he plans to do the show in the USA instead.

this is true its not a wind up

i think it would go down much worse in the USA! there are more extremely religious people there than here.

I don't see why there should dip in popularity if it were girls. Especially since there is generally a higher standard with girls than boys, due to bigger competition, this IMO was reflected in Maria and Joseph in the general standard but also in the way the boys reacted to critism compared to the girls, the girls were far stronger because they were more used to it.

Obviously if people are shallow enough to want eyecandy (which I guess they are) then that maybe true, but ultimately it is a saturday night family show so I doubt it would make much difference.

Basically they would need to build and improve on the sucess of Joseph, in the same way Joseph got bigger due to the sucess of Maria.

Hasn't ALW said the format is dead in the USA due to the failure of the American Grease show? I thought he was going back to the Phantom prequel anyway, no more TV?

Ideal scenario for a Jesus Christ Superstar revival - let Lee do Joseph for 6 months, then hand the show over to someone else (maybe one of the other Josephs from the show?) and open the JCS revival with Lee as Judas next summer. He proved in the final he would make a great Judas - join the dark side, muahaha!

I don't think the format is dead, but they need a definate break from if for a couple of years. Otherwise the same people will be auditioning over again.

No, it would be very popular in the US. It always has been.

You "could be Jesus" might have to be altered though...

I think Chicago is far too dark a musical to capture the family element on a Saturday night... it is, after all, about getting away with murdering your husband...
