His 'checkout to chekov' comment on Sat night wasn't exactly complimentary to Keith.

You think ?

Surely suggesting he can do Chekhov indicates ALW thinks he can act....... don't see it myself though

I can't either. I mentioned Keith before as I was replying to a comment about him. But no matter what the panel said 'live' I also can't believe that any of them would be happy had Lewis won NOW. In time maybe, but as he is now or keith, or any of the others for that matter, none were ready for a 8 show a week, west end leading man role apart from Lee.

lol i'm sure there are plenty more references to it! after the thread in which we were all talking about overuse of the word "journey" i couldnt help but notice overkill on that as well!

As regards to your thoughts. ALW and others have enough knowledge to see beyond now. Keith has exceptional vocal ability. I believe that much of his vocal power didn't come over to the television viewers, yet they still voted for him. I imagine his voice to the ears of the audience in the studio watching the show, was amazing. This is why he has been so feted, he has so much potential for the future and those in the know in the business can see this. ALW did say on his final review of Saturday's show that he believed that Keith was an exceptional find.

As regard his performance on Saturday. He did an excellent job, but I do think that having suffered tonsillitis, he wasn't able to let his voice soar to its full capabilities. He might not be some posters cup of tea, but long term he will blossom into an excellent performer, of that I'm sure.

Lewis will do fine from all this. ALW loves him, it's obvious. That guy owns plenty of theatres. He'll find him a lead in time (if he doesn't get an even better offer first).

Personally, I reckon ALW saw behind the scenes the performance Lewis gave us last night, but much earlier than we did. Up until Saturday the only mesmarising performance he had given was in the acting with Denise when I believed every moment of it.

He is a lovely lad with little arrogance. I really wish him well.

In the meantime, ALW has a very popular and talented Lee to bring in the crowds at the Adelphi.

Result.

It's best to ignore ALW facial gestures when trying to decide what he thinks. also he talks nonsense sometimes just to foggy the issue
The clues to how ALW felt about the three finalists can be seen when he is giving his judgment for each of them after their big band numbers.

The last hand gesture he does for lewis and keith is with his left hand and it is a dismissive gesture.

The last hand gesture he does for lee is a hand stretched out as if giving something and it is with his right hand.

Well, I think all three of them, in their own ways, shone. Keith's acting abilities are constantly being brought into question yet as an MT entertainer that is surely secondary and, anyway, I thought he could work the stage with as much facility as the rest of them.

For me the stand out find of this show has to have been Daniel Boys...that boy has CLASS with a DOUBLE SSSS!!

Sorry - but have you actually seen a west end show? cause if you have then surely you would realise that acting ability in NO WAY comes second!

This is one of those occasions where I'm with Cleo
When it's musical theatre, acting is most definitely not a secondary consideration. But happily with Lee, we have the full package

yes and its even more than just being good at acting - as with every other role in theatre (and film/tv) you have to be right for the part too. The right look, presence, aura everything. If Keith was ever right for Joseph (even with perfect acting) then I'm Mary. Not to mention - can you imagine him 'leading' a whole group!

I will stand back and wait for the backlash, but no way in this world was Keith right to be a Joseph. It had to be Lee or Lewis. I think that Lewis's age and inexperience is something that won't hold him back for long. I predict that ALW offers him a job really quickly before anyone else can sign him up!!
