Precisely. And in the end it is down to the public to vote. The only way this is a fix is if they ignore the actual public vote and do what they want as in a fix you must be absolutely certain of the result. Since it is highly unlikely they did that what with these types of shows being under scrutiny recently, it isn't a fix, simple as.

Lee was lording it over the other boys from the beginning, assuming that he was going to win - they even said so some weeks back, in the episode where Lee was marking his steaks in the fridge like the control freak he is - and it was clear from then on, with the The Lord's and the panel's collusion, that while Keith had a wonderful 'journey' from boy to man and while Lewis was being 'saved' by ALW all the time for his dedicated improvements, the only real contender was Lee. I had hoped the British public might give Keith, Ben or Lewis a real chance, since they wanted it so badly. Lee, after all, would have been able to continue in theatre in some capacity. It was like Pete Bennett winning Big Brother last year, such a foregone conclusion that the result was a terrible anti-climax. I had hoped that the GBP might have given the underdog a break this time.

And in my earlier post I forgot to mention that while Craig lost his chance because he smiled when he shouldn't have (what a terrible mistake - ), Lee completely screwed up his Bon Jovi song - the most jarring disaster of the whole series - and was forgiven without reservation. It was all set up for Lee to win, no one else stood a fighting chance, and I am furious that the public gave the dreamcoat to a self-satisfied professional (yes, professional) who knew that he had it in the bag all along.

I dont think the show was fixed, but it was certainly engineered by the production team and Editing department for Lee to be in the final . I think even from the audition stages it was quite obvious Lee was the chosen one .
Saying that Iv enjoyed the show and I think Lee will make a good Joseph .I wish all the Josephs luck and look forward to seeing how their careers develop in the future.

Actually Rob has a Btech in drama and belongs to the local operatic society and so performs quite regularly in front of audiences, though why the fetish over Lee being a professional beats me, no rules were broken so he had as much right as anyone else and even though I think they wanted Lee from the beginning, he still had to got through the same process as the others, not knowing whether the GBP would vote for him. (I must get to grips with punctuation, that sentence was way too long)I'm not a Lee devotee by the way my allegiance was to someone else, but I felt sorry for all 3 that were left yesterday and didn't care who won, I just hope all do well out of it

To say that the result was a fix is absolutely ridiculous. I spotted Lee in the very first transmitted programme and he stood out then, head and shoulders above the others. I bought tickets back in April to see the show, hoping beyond hope that Lee would be Joseph, and I'm flying in from Spain to see it. (In the unlikely event that he hadn't won, I would have returned or sold my tickets.)
If you're paying £45 per ticket, you don't want to see an amateur in the role and only a professional would have the stamina for eight shows a week.
Also, having watched the various fora over the shows duration, it was quite obvious who had the public vote from very early on. He also now has a few fanlistings of his own.
There's a very simple solution for those of you who don't like this kind of programme - change channel - and leave the rest of us to thoroughly enjoy.

I think that Rob has had some training as well as all the others.

The reason why Lee was so confident and why the public and panel liked him so much is that he is simply head and shoulders above the others as an ALLROUNDER. Just like Connie last year. I wish people would stop using the word 'fix' so indiscriminately about these shows - unless they mean the judges actually rigged the votes or interfered with the phone vote in some way. The judges might have wanted Lee to win - but IMO so did the public and there was no need for a 'fix' of any kind ...

I agree. There is no way the votes would be rigged, because there has been so much controversy over this sort of thing recently that the BBC would never risk their reputation.

To be honest, I think Lee was at a disadvantage from the start because of his professional background. He had to put in a show-stopping performance every week in order to get the votes, because people naturally favour the underdogs in these things. He won purely based on talent (and huge fan base), no other reason.

Everyone knew about Lee's background, so there was no cover up, and so there could have been no fix. His background probably got more coverage than that of the others, who got credit for making a bigger journey.

One thing to come out of this is that if you stand a chance of competing in something like this, you will need some experience as well as talent, and there is no excuse for not getting any. If you are serious about musical theatre, then you will find a way to learn about it. Every town has an amateur dramatics society.

At the end of the day, Lee was the best all round, and people voted for who they liked best. He was never in the bottom two, so complaining that Craig was booted out for smiling is irrelevant.

Assuming you mean his performance of 'All Right Now' (I didn't know it was a Bon Jovi song) he got probably the harshest criticism of the series and who is to say he wouldn't have gone if he had been in the bottom two? Reality check - he was never in the bottom two throughout the series (nor was Keith). That was totally down to the public not the judges. And BTW there is a major difference in someone who has been ill not being able to pull off a rock song (which he wouldn't be required to do in the show anyway) and someone showing not the slightest ability to 'act' a song when they are auditioning for a part in a musical!

Yes it was when singing such a serious song. Unfortunately despite his improvements they didn't see him as an acting, musical theatre perform and he proved it yet again in that song.


Oh yes let's vote for the poor little underdog even though he might be a bit rubbish in the role and get awful reviews. Heaven forbid the public should choose to vote for the actual talent. But there again we don't often like it when people are good at something in this country...

I just wondered where the 'Lee was so confident' idea came from? I know you were'nt putting him down but without a shadow of doubt he was not ever confident. He constantly worried about his performances (refer to Zoe - "most insecure") and pushed himself really hard to put on a good show. Also throughtout the series you never saw him being unsupportive of the other Josephs (unlike some others but let's not go there). He is a genuinely down to earth guy who worked hard to win (and he certainly took some knocks on the way to get there - 'a bit rubbish', 'what happened there?' - even last night ALW asked him about a dodgy note).

She means Living on a Prayer where Lee turns too early. However, ALW said that even thought Lee made a mistake (and made it very clear that he did) he said 'that's what inner strength is about' - in order words instead of falling to peices Lee carried on totally professionally to the point that a lot of people didn't even know he had gone wrong. That's professionalism because when you are performing live night after night, things go wrong.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there. In this country, people seem to dislike talent and want to knock it. It is never celebrated, just critised. I agree with everyone, Lee stood head and shoulders above everyone else in his whole attitude to the show, and his ability. He looks like a lovely bloke with a professional attitude and it is obvious to all that he is hugely talented . I'm sure there were another one or two of the guys (in particular Seamus and Ben in my opinion) who also could have carried it off and done a great job of Joseph, bu it is Lee that the public took to and wanted to pay to see on the stage. All of this shouting of a "fix" is ridiculous and a bad case of sour grapes I'm afraid. It was the right result.....end of!!!

Ok I get it now, but he didn't make a mess of that performance in my eyes, in fact I didn't even notice. All the more credit to Lee for covering it up so well, it shows someone who doesn't crack under pressure.

Yes he could have continued in the theatre in the role of understudy, but Joseph gave him the chance to showcase his talents as leading man material - well done him for grasping the opportunity.

He was never nasty about the other contestants, he was quietly confident about his abilities but he respected all his fellow would be Josephs, and the constant cries of fix throughout the series could have led to a serious backlash against him; voters might either have assumed he was safe, so voted for someone else or believed the rumours and turned against him.

Naughty, naughty GBP for letting you down but the fact is they voted for Lee because that is who they wanted to see in the technicolour dreamcoat. He was the best.

The fact is with Lee we are garanteed a great show 8 performances a week, just like Connie he was the allrounder who was consistent. I would have been scared if Lewis or Keith had won. There is no fixing involved, but I expect there was a degree of manipulation (for example giving Keith an unsuitable song), ultimately though Lee won because he was the only one ready and suitable for the part.

It's not just that show, Grease was a fix, X Factor is a fix! I think in the end Celebrity BB this year was a fix. Ultimately it's the people who make the show winners, us passionate public are the losers
