Bbc 4 & Toshiba 32c3030d Lcd
Hi
I have recently bought a 32" Toshiba 32C3030D TV & it's great...but, last night I was watching BBC 4 for the first time, and it was pixellating all over the place and the sound was distorted. It wasn't happening on any other channel, but I retuned all the channels but the same happened when watching BBC 4. I haven't a clue how to manually tune just one channel & it looks, from the instructions that it isn't recommended to do that anyway! Any ideas as to why this one particular channel is giving me problems?

Possibly because the channel broadcasts in a low bit-rate.
I have the same set, but I use my V+ box to watch TV. I will use the freeview tonight and have a look (If I remember) to see if mine does the same. |

Very much doubt it will be low bitrate. Unlike the commercial broadcasters the BBC does at least make a token effort at decent quality over quantity on it's two muxes
![]() One thing to try is tune into CBEEBIES during the day time. This channel is carried over exactly the same data stream as BBC4. So if BBC 4 has problems then so should CBEEBIES (in theory anyway). Also try the BBC interactive channels 301/2/3 and Parliament (LCN 81). If these also have problems then your problem is with MUX B not just BBC4. I assume from your profile that you are receiving from Sutton Coldfield transmiter? If so then it is odd that MUX B is giving problems. Although it is on the next channel up from C4 analogue. If you have a booster amp in circuit it might be that C4 analogue is slightly overloading the tuner front end causing interference to MUX B. Easy to eliminate by plugging the aerial direct to the TV and seeing what happens. The other possibility is aerial location. Especially if it is a loft aerial. Loft aerials in particular are subject to reflections from the building, the effects of which are largely frequency dependent. So a reflection that reinforces the signal on one UHF channel could cause cancellation of another channel. The only cure for this is a bit of trial and error to find a location where all channels are received equally well. If you are lucky that might only involve a few inches of movement. |

Thanks for your help guys
I think it must be an aerial problem, every other channel is fine apart from CBeebies & BBC 4
