Eeek! My Toppy has gone haywire!
My Toppy seems to have gone bonkers! It just cycles around the loop....C456 > run > P009 and back to C456 again. The loop takes around 10 seconds to complete and I get BBC Four showing (the channel it was tuned to) for a whole 2 seconds before the screen goes blank and the display starts over showing C456 again. A few minutes before this occurred, I got a 'checking files and folders' message appearing on screen. It appeared to pass ok.
Any ideas what's gone wrong? I've tried unplugging it for a while but that makes no difference at all. I'm quite annoyed as it's only 18 months old! Last edited by iiyama17 : 10-06-2007 at 23:35. Reason: spelling corrections |

Are you running any TAPs? If you are you could try running without them to check if one of them is causing the problem. (To run without TAPs hold down zero key while rebooting until aspect ratio starts changing)

If Richard's suggestion doesn't fix it, the other trick is to pull the aerial out before turning it on. BBCi and Teletext are the most likely sources of rogue data that can occasionally crash the Toppy. If it then boots OK, go into the system menu and set Interactive services to Off.

C456 - run loop
Thanks for the help as I have just had the same problem, the loop....C456 > run > P009 and back to C456 again. I rebooted while holding down the 0 key until the aspect ratio changed. N.B. don't forget to set it back to what it should be. The 5800 worked as normal without the My Stuff group of taps installed. It would appear that one of them must have been corrupted. I deleted them and replaced them with the latest versions and all is back to normal.
Thanks David |

Haha...I thought this sounded vaguely familiar! And then when I started to read it, I discovered I was the OP!
After updating MyStuff, the problem has never recurred. |
