Panasonic TH42PX70 clicks
I recently purchased and setup a Panasonic TH42PX70, fantastic picture etc...
The only thing that concerns me is that i hear an audible click about 5-10mins after power up, and the unit will click again a couple of times for an hour or so... Anyone else noticed this???

Is it from the set itself or the speakers?

Is it the fan clicking on/off?

Went into the panny shop and asked about this, they seemed to think the clicks could be the set expanding whilst heating up. This could explain why the clicks virtually stop after about an hour and a half. |

I've got the px600 and have to say have never heard the clicking noise. Could well be expansion though!
Does it click after you turn it off when cooling down? |

Going to let tv heat up, and then cool down with power disconected to see if the clicks occur on cool down. |

A lot of CRT tv's used to make cracking noises as they warmned up/cooled down.... the front and back cabinets were screwed together and moved slightly as they contracted/expanded... some customers would describe the noises like stones hitting a window pane.
Seeing as Plasmas get warm I'd think this a possible problem too. When it makes the noise try and flex the cabinet a bit and see if you can make it do it (don't be forceful though!) Sometimes a simple loosening/retighning the case screws would help, or a little wedge of felt material. |

well, had the screen a week now, and im now noticing some minor creaks as the screen expands and contracts. These are very quiet, but the clicks have turned into quite loud "zaps". All ok though as panasonic have agreed to replace the item.
many thanks for peoples input on this.... |
