It's to save ITV being sued for lible or some other nasty lawsuit. It usually goes blank when the celebs are talking about other people outside of the camp (to protect their privacy), or naming names in terms of products etc.
Or if the are talking about sexual matters or swearing too much. |

I dont understand why they cant edit the daytime repeat, so JUST the swear words and potentially libellous name or product names etc are blanked out, and not whole sentences (and more) each time. They just seem to leave the sound cuts the same with no editing at all.
and I dont understand why they keep switching to shots of the trees/sky/oil lamp when the celebs are just sitting round the fire, obviously not running around naked or whatever. and why do they do so many close ups?, Im not really interested in watching the spot on Phils nose for 2 minites. |

My impression from watching reality tv is that much of the time it has nothing to do with legal matters, and more to do with what the producers want us not to hear in case it spoils the illusion. i.e when they start talking about crew etc.
For example, I noticed today they were a bit late cutting the sound when Toyah joked about the frog sounds (piped from speakers hidden in the fake lagoon) being a bit loud

I don't quite believe all I read, nor should you. Just wait till Christmas, Santa will be delivering - he's just on holiday at the moment

They are definately cutting the sound when something important crops up that they want to save for the main show. They were doing it all the time they were practicing the show they put on last night.
As for gas canisters, check your local camping and caraving store!! |

And now to add to my illusion shattering trauma, I've just read on another thread that the last show's camp location (and therefore possibly this one) was fifty yards from a hotel!
Does anyone know about this?

I've heard this said before, but I'm not convinced about it. I remember seeing a VT of behind the scenes of IACGMOOH last year, and they showed how they built their own village of portacabins for all the production crew in a clearing, and they said that they were a couple of hours from the nearest town - and from the footage of the area, it did look like they were in the middle of no-where.
