welcome to the club.
im around 400 yards from croydon exchange.
been with homechoice around 3 years and on the 8 meg max speed since it began on homchoice.
never had any real problems, connection was always stable around 7.8mbs.
since tiscali have taken over ive had 5 days without connection, speeds have dropped to an average of around 6 meg but recently as low as less than 1 meg.
last month they capped me at 2 meg for no reason whatsoever and this past weekend ive struggled again to get above 2 meg.
there answer, oh have you recently purchased a new home phone it could be that, we'll send you out a new filter and if that doesnt work we'll replace your HC box.
sorry but to me that smacks of desperation from a company that has no clue as to whats wrong.
be interesting to know if the contention ratio has changed since the takeover.
oh and while im on a rant, ive yet to have a correct bill since march. if it wasnt for the fact that i pay line rental to HC and that where i live im limted with options ( no virgin media/ telewest/whatever they are called now) and sky and carphone warehouse both being equally appalling id leave.
HC really have me by the balls at the moment but im determined to find a replacement ASAP because since the takeover the service has got worse and worse and i see no signs of improvement anywhere
