This seems to have happened to me too, according to the ThinkBroadband speedtest. I'm also on the Greenwich server, Southwark exchange. I'm going to try rebooting my box as sometimes that resolves speed issues but I'm not holding my breath.

welcome to the club.
im around 400 yards from croydon exchange.

been with homechoice around 3 years and on the 8 meg max speed since it began on homchoice.

never had any real problems, connection was always stable around 7.8mbs.

since tiscali have taken over ive had 5 days without connection, speeds have dropped to an average of around 6 meg but recently as low as less than 1 meg.

last month they capped me at 2 meg for no reason whatsoever and this past weekend ive struggled again to get above 2 meg.

there answer, oh have you recently purchased a new home phone it could be that, we'll send you out a new filter and if that doesnt work we'll replace your HC box.

sorry but to me that smacks of desperation from a company that has no clue as to whats wrong.

be interesting to know if the contention ratio has changed since the takeover.

oh and while im on a rant, ive yet to have a correct bill since march. if it wasnt for the fact that i pay line rental to HC and that where i live im limted with options ( no virgin media/ telewest/whatever they are called now) and sky and carphone warehouse both being equally appalling id leave.

HC really have me by the balls at the moment but im determined to find a replacement ASAP because since the takeover the service has got worse and worse and i see no signs of improvement anywhere

something's really gone wrong somewhere since tiscali took over - mine had exactly the same problem and have been without service many times for several days over the past few months.

they've now decided that i have to go on a 2mb profile and this seems to have solved things - which is pretty bizarre as i, like you, was getting 7.8mb before... am moving in the next month or two, and definitely not taking homechoice with me

I phoned them last week and asked to be put back on 8mb again, getting speeds between 4 & 5 now.

Tiscali are forever going belly up just lately I.E cannot connect, when we phone them they say same thing its the servers are down. But if you complain enough they reimburse the time that the service is down. If you dont complain to them they dont reimburse. Tiscali was great at one time, now it seems all they care about is getting new customers and not bothering to sort out any problems they have.

Tiscali are a grubby little dishonest company check out their forums for the their email debacle:

http://www.tiscali.co.uk/forums/show...4&page=1&pp=15

Check out ISP Review.co.uk as well they are the most compalined about ISP.

I was gutted when I heard Tiscali were buying up Homechoice. As I they offered some great T.V. and relatively stable internet connection.

Now I can see Tiscali have managed to balls this up just as I feared.

I will be leaving this sorry excuse for a company and be taking my business elsewhere I suggest you all do the same.

No problems here. 7.2up 0.5 down. Same as always.
I have noticed that the TV no longer times out at night, so it continues to eat capacity.

Im on the basic 2 meg package and used to get between 1.7-1.9. It's now down to 1.2-1.5 since the Tiscali stuck their claws into it.

I'm on the Greenwich exchange and assume the situation will not improve. "Tech Support" are hilarious. I did ask them if any jobs were going.

I mentioned to them I have no idea when it comes to computers, the internet and can barely switch a PC on. I thought they'd snap me up no worries.

Got the feeling I was over qualified for the post

yeah sorry mate you managed to log into this forum and make a post, that puts you way over qualified.

even answering a phone after less than 10 rings is considered as a tier 3 tech, and actually being able to say something other than. errrrr grunt grunt have you tried switching the box off then on again???? qualifies you as managerial level.

still waiting on my new filter i was promised a week ago, again no doubt will have to take it to upper managment level as they are probably the only ones able to write my address to send it ( though i dont expect miracles so im not looking for joined up writing here).
