WTF is a "Global Brand Consultant" and why is the Met Office paying for one?
PlasmaPete

WTF is a "Global Brand Consultant" and why is the Met Office - aka the taxpayer, aka you - paying for one? It's the Met Office, it provides information about the weather. The end.

Shagging the boss of a "global brand consultancy" does not make you a "global brand consultant", even if it were a job with a point...

Also, in this similar thread there is a link to http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/publicat...barometer6.pdf which is the Met Office's in-house magazine. I remember seeing Katie's minging face in the PDF when it was first posted. Today, said minging face has been removed. Hope her employer is pissed at all the negative publicity...

Weather is global. Forcasters just need data which they can interpret anywhere - they don't go outside and stick a finger in the air. Forcasting requires super computers that most countries couldn't afford. Presumably Katie persuades people overseas they want Met office forcasts - if that is indeed her job title. Northerners get Met Office forcasts anyway so she can insult them.

I think a global brand consultant is a job title given to you by the guy you're shagging coz you're having his children. I think the 90k salary is basically child support under the guise of a brand consultants job, for tax purposes......

I thought that but my husband said I was been very cynical.

I really don't like Katie at all and she may have got promotion at one company she worked at by her relationship with her boss who she later married and who she claims left her a year later for a younger model. However her £90K global brand consultancy job is with a totally different employer and she presumably got that job after several interviews and was chosen because she was seen to be the best person for the job.

She has two children from a former marriage so why wouldn't her former husband be contributing to their child support and as he is no longer paying her salary it has nothing to do with tax purposes.

And the money from the NOTW won't last forever.
Maybe this was a big risk that isn't going to pay off.

My brother worked for the Met office up to a few years ago and I know they laid off staff right left and centre - so why are they wasting their money on Katie!

Because they are based in Exeter and she had done them the courtesy of having her child care sorted?

Wow. I started this thread at 00:18 this morning. By 9am, I was enjoying a cappuccino in the cafe next to my office, reading of her sacking in the Daily Mail.

As they say, Carlsberg don't make cappucinos, but if they did...

I suspect she spends her time inventing stereotypes. What does Edna in Slough want or Stan in Warrington.

Money for old rope.

Consultants - they borrow your watch to tell you the time then charge you thousands for it

You might also ask what the point of the Met Office is nowadays. This whole business of weather prediction was 'cracked' decades ago and has long since been programmed into computers which do all of the work. They hardly need staff let alone armies of image consultants.

I bought this thing called a 'weather station' from Aldi for just £19.99p. Apart from telling you what the temperature pressure and humidity are it also features a 'weather foerecast'. I laughed, at least until I noticed that the damn thing is pretty well always correct. I don't much feel the need for the Met Office but then, come to think of it, I never have.

You may not personally have a need for the Met Office but if you were a business that was dependent on the weather eg. in tourism, agriculture etc then maybe you would feel you have more of a need for their services. Or maybe not. You can't blame them for trying to diversify.

interestingly the met office say she wasnt earning £90k ... another big fat lie on her cv to get what she wanted?

Maybe the £90k wasn't just salary but included benefits as well. Her salary may have been £50K, but her public sector pension is surpose to be worth 20% (say 10K), plus we known she was getting expenses of some sort , maybe she was getting a car allowance, plus performance bonus arrangment, etc.... Mind you even with all this I still find it difficult to get to £90k a year.

I use to work in HR and I have to say it is not uncommon for people to exaggerate a little on their CVs.....
