Problem with Sky...
I have just put together a Home Cinema System in my home, but when i set it up I had a problem with my Sky + pictures. My setup is as follows Cambridge 540 Azur AV , which controls my XBox 360 which is connected by Component and is perfect, my Samsung DVD which is Component and is perfect, and my Audio Unit which is direct Audio and runs perfect. My problem is with my Sky+ which is connected by S-Video and audio but I used to connect by Scart on my original setup and had no problems, but now when I watch any programme there appears to be a slight jump in picture quality and it is very annoying but there is no problem with the sound quality. My worry is that all the cables have been chased into wall and I did not put a scart cable in as I thought I wouldn't need one but I have got all the other connections I could think as my end goal is to have Sky HD when it is supplied at a reasonable cost. Hope someone can give me a few pointers as I am at my wits end

S-video is inferior to Scart-RGB so I am not surprised you noticed a difference in picture quality. I'm assuming also that you are using the Cambridge 540 Azur to switch video sources so therefore if you are using Component out to your TV (display) then the receiver is converting the Sky+ S-video which may actually show up picture imperfections more.
You either need to re-instate a Scart-RGB connection direct to the TV from the Sky+ box (as the AV receiver doesn't cater for a scart input) or live with the current set-up until you upgrade in the future. |

Cheers...
Took your advice and put Scart cable direct from Sky + box to tv but to no avail so I am in the process of updating to Sky HD just a little bit sooner than I thought but thanks for the advice

Check that the output signal on the Sky box is set to RGB and not video/composite.
Also, ensure that the scart cable is coming out of the correct socket on the Sky box - the TV out one. This is usually the BOTTOM one. If you are using the TOP one this is the VCR out which can only display composite. Rgds, Scorp |
