Ok, I got an oldversions copy of RealPlayer 8

I actually really like that track, it's very melodic and the drums on it are great. Is there anywhere I could get a better copy (or a cd?)

Hey KotS thanks for checking the tune out. Sorry, no other format.

I would recommend that you go to the Real Player site and download the Real One player that is for free. As you will be able to listen to all the clips that I post in G2 quality which is of a very high standard!

As for commercial availability right now there is a lot of tracks being sifted through in order to determine, what will make the final cut. The releases will be available in stores that specialise in Hip-Hop music such as Mr Bongo's, Fat Beats, Fat City Records, The Sound Library, Vinyl Exchange etc etc.

You might also like this track called 'Smoke & Mirrors' it is by a guy named Rjd2. It is from his album 'Dead Ringer' I believe places like Virgin Records, Andys Records, HMV, Tower Records etc do stock the Dead Ringer LP, check it out if this kind of musak is your cup of tea. Here is a taste of Smoke & Mirrors.

Fantastic. I love the levels that the track is operating on, and the fact that the same vocal is used to herald the beginning of each cadence.

The second track was quite cool, but it didn't stand out as 'The Sun Went Down' did for me.. that is just a beautiful track I would definately recommend it for your compilation!

Will the compilation be strictly instrumental hiphop / downtempo? I would be interested when it hits the stores, it sounds a good project

Thanks for the positive feed-back Hamish & KotS.

KotS yeah the projects I work within tend to be hiphop instrumentals and vocally orientated alternative/downtempo hiphop.

The group of artists I work with tend to steer clear of the major label set up due to the politics involved.

We do get enough capital together from time to time to press up our music and release it for retail at selected outlets.

If anything further comes to fruition I will let you know, thanks.

In the meantime, I think you might like this track by my cohort McEnroe it was part of a soundtrack that formed part of an art piece which was on exhibition few years back at The Mendel Art Gallery. Pretty good track.......copy and paste into your addy browser, then click on go

Heh, I've never seen an rtsp:// link before

I'm glad to see good music coming out into the limelight from independant artists. I would love to get my music out there to anyone willing to listen, but refuse to accept 5% royalties and to have my work legally owned by someone else - so kudos to you guys

Another nice tune you've posted, keep them coming I like the sloppy beatboxing that's ocassionally in the background, heh!

Still, nothing has beaten the first track, that's just lovely

I could post a link to something of mine if you like, the closest to downtempo isn't quite 'hiphop', but you might enjoy it

That's another cool track I don't know if it's the original sound, or the .rm encoding of it, but I was annoyed by the effect on the first voice and the drums.. they sound all slurred

Here are some links to my forum thread containing some of my favourite songs.. sorry but I'm too lazy to post all the original links over again

First, here is a selection of 5 of my own tracks.. dawn five and "it felt like nothing" are quite laid back and spacey, whereas 18, phresch & miscommunication are either funky or upfront... I'm really bad at describing my own music...

5 of my tracks

More recently I have been working with a couple of friends, they're both amature guitarists and have come over for recording and a few beers each week We've been laying down somewhat experimental tracks, heavily laden with effects and digital trickery, and so far I'm really happy with what we've been doing Our first two tracks are the downtempo creepy sounding Sighn Wave and then a pretty heavy duty (170bpm) smash : Conceptually Complete!

I hope you enjoy all of them, and as I've been permanently saying in that thread, comments would be much appreciated!! Heh, even if it's just some pointers on what genre each track is, I only classify music as 5 genres

Mac
