The fact that British stars/celebrities are the rage in US right now I won't be surprised.

Probably the network over there are very impressed with the UK ratings so they must think Alan Sugar must be a superstar...well.. he is in a way.

However, I doubt this story is true & even doubt that AS will pursue such move.

So, Alan Sugar was pretty much unheard of in the UK before Apprentice!

Not sure that's true, he's been a bit of a public business figure since the eighties when he and Clive Sinclair revived the british home computing market.

Sounds good. Should liven up the usually boring US boardroom! I've never heard Trump swear, so this should be interesting!

On the other hand £800m would make him a billionaire in US dollars! A global business empire worth £1.5bn dollars sounds far more impressive!

Amstrad and Spectrum were two different computers - Amstrad made the Amstrad (Duh) and Sinclair made the ZX Spectrum.

Having said that the third big computer at that time was the Commodore 64 which beat the Amstrad hands down as Amstrad wasnt really well supported by the Software houses of the day.

Until Clive Sinclair decided to release that crap thing on wheels called the C5 and ended up in debt. Alan Sugar and Amstrad bought out Sinclair. Then the Spectrum range was then getting made by Amstrad. Having said that I think at the time the biggest computer was the Commodore 64 the the ZX Spectrum and then the Amstrad CPC464.

dont think this would happen as mark burnett (sp?) and trump are quite close on the show. they are both shopping this to other networks, but the new head of entertainment at NBC wants to keep it.... so it is all up in the air

The Amstrad home computer was a weaklly-supported bit of cheap tat IMO. Much in the same way his other products have always been.

Back then, the Spectrum, Vic-20, Commodore-64, Atari 800 and the Acorn Electron were all held in higher esteem than the Amstrad.

Alan Sugar is probably best known in this country for his chairmanship of Tottenham Hotspur football club, but even that was far from a glowing period in their history!

Part of me would like to see a change in the UK Apprentice show before it starts getting stale (which it will do next series, this season was already a carbon copy task-wise of previous shows). Someone like Richard Branson would be good, and setting some tasks outside the usual London streets would also be good....a bit like the 'running a golf club' theme, Trump used a few years back in the US.
