The issue here is exactly what an apprentice role is:

a person who works for another in order to learn a trade

AS sees that Simon is a young guy who has potential on a long term basis.

That's two years in a row that he's hired the person who was clearly the weaker of the two finalists. It's turned into a bit of a joke for me. I'm not sure I'll be watching next year. What's the point in having all of the tasks if the person who performs best doesn't end up getting the job?

Wow, I am RIPPING mad now. That just seems crazy, based on everything we've watched. I don't dislike Simon but he seems to have been floundering and incompetent. And if it just coes down to Siralan's gut instincts, and Siralan's gut instincts are... not the best, then what's the point in the series at all?
It's like "Rocks fall. Everyone dies." Just not a satisfying ending, storywise. Although you kind of knew it was coming because it was so obvious he shouldn't be there at all, so you knew Siralan liked him a lot.

!!!!!!!!!!

(I still haven't worked off my annoyance but will stop typing now.

Fancy seeing both of you.

I hope Peter Jones does not know Simon's daddy. Seems Sir Alan does.

Does anyone else wonder why they didn't mention the buildings in the boardroom? I mean which was thought of as the best? I guess simons must have been, but i would have thought they would have mentioned it

I agree brightlights. He is floundering and incompetent. It makes a sham of the whole series. Katrina was by far the best throughout the show. Ooooh I'm annoyed.

I agree with others that Simon probably should have been fired weeks ago but hes dugg in and got the reward.

SAS has taken a gamble. But lets not forget he didnt become a multi-millionaire from making bad decisions.

Exactly. Therefore he should be able to manage people already. Very few people will earn £100k in any management role without being able to lead.
