I'm sure that the son was crying because he knows that Kristina was unable to take certain career opportunities because of him, and he desperately wanted her to win for this reason.
The "Kristina Time" thing backs this up, although for the Apprentice she was past her sell by date. I can't imagine Alan Sugar hiring someone nearer to 40 than 30 years old.
