Multi Region DVD Player Problem
I have ordered some DVD's from America which arrived today.
They are all Region 1 and my DVD player is multi region. None of them will play on my DVD player, even though other region 1 DVD's I have will. Help! |

Perhaps the DVDs are RCE? If so, you need to lock your player to Region 1.

I don't think there'll be anything on the packaging, I'm afraid. There are lists, like this one, of known RCE discs.
What's the model of your DVD player? |

I've managed to sort it out.
Thanks for your help! *Would insert smiley face, but it won't let me* |

I find that my DVD player stays on the last region selected.
Therefore, if I get a map when trying to play a RCE enabled disc, I load a disc that I know is not RCE enabled. Once the film has started I eject the disc and insert the disc I want to play. |

RCE should only be a problem for older players ,especially Toshiba .
And the regular Philips remote hack does not enable RCE either. RCE was adopted by Warner and Columbia/Sony on R1. Not sure if others have taken it up like they have with Sony's new Arcoss system that prevents PC copying with stuff like DVD Shrink (without extra help) |
