Although its not the most reliable source, wiki has the chart figures

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_That_discography

I bought the cd on Saturday, so it is on general release, yet in the Radio 1 top 40, it doesnt feature at all

As a big TT fan I am a tad gutted over this. They havent performed this badly since Do What You Like came out in 1991. The song isnt a strong contender in my opinion but i think its a lot better than other stuff thats out at the mo

I DO apologize!

I meant that Mark Owen simply cannot sing!!

Gary Barlow on the other hand, I rate as quite a talented artist. Just let him lead all their tunes - and they may not be so cringeworthy!

Also, heard a new ad trailing on Capital Radio yesterday - for the "sensational" new single from Take That - I'd Wait For Life!

Whereever it was you bought it from is naughty then, as the release date is today. Therefore any sales of the actual cd single before today will not count to the chart position. Where did you buy it from by the way? Wasnt HMV by any chance?

They're still playing Shine non-stop on the radio, it's still at no14 on airplay, I still think they'll be top5 come sunday.

im going to generalise a lot here

but id imagine Take That are more of a physical copies band than a downloads band...I have visions of this song being bought more by people popping into town than off itunes.

their fan base (despite having aged) still has this 'teeny bopper' vibe, where they camp out for gig tickets...and i think physical sales is still part of that (how i dont know!) its often the case that bands like mcfly do better on physical sales than downloads

You could buy the cd single in Ireland on Saturday. I got mine this morning and know many fans have gone out and bought it today.
When TT released singles way back it was indeed before the albums release.
They have sold over 2.5 million with "Beautiful World" worldwide so single number 3 can't be expected to be top selling.
They have a huge world tour coming up so they aren't finished by a long shot December will see them smash the MEN arenas record for most nights (11) performed at a single venue during the tour by one artist
Aged rooftopcowboy ???????? fans on my site are from 15years to 50 so don't generalise!!!!

id still imagine the average age of their fan base is nearer 30 than 20

of course theyll have younger fans, but the vast majority will be fans from the first time around who have grown older.

They shouldnt have been selling it then. I asked if it was HMV cos I noticed at work the other day the release date hadn't been changed from 11/06/07 to 18/06/07 on the stock enquiry system.

Well I ordered my copy from Amazon and it should be there when I get home tonight. Although I have the album which I love, I buy the singles as well because I want the second song in each case which isn't on the album. It's a shame as personally I think I'd Wait For Life is a beautiful track, but maybe more of album track than a single. I don't know what the promo guys at Polydor are doing as it's had virtually no airplay so far.

I hope this is only a temporary blip!

I think people forget years back TT released singles before the album. Beautiful World has shifted a extraordinary amount so a 3rd single can't be expected to go to number 1 The charts are so different these days unless you churn out cover after cover like Westlife to get your consectutive number 1's
Bring on the TT tour

Hasn't it gone in at number 2?? I went in Woolworths at dinner time and it had the singles listing and it was number 2 behind Rhiana
