That's a pretty huge spoiler, considering.

Sounds pretty impressive, too!

why have the bbc put that on their website? they get annoyed when storylines get sold to the press and they end up letting everyone know one of the biggest storylines ever in dr who weeks before it happens.

i wish i hadn't clicked the link now.

Surely it should read 'only the sonic screwdriver can save the day. Again.'

I'm hoping that this episode throws up lots of unexpected twists and turns and that this is the minimum of information that RTD is willing to give for the press release.

No it will be revealed, like all the other true identities going on at the end of this season that Martha created the sonic screwdriver in the future and sent it back in time to the 2nd Doctor so he could eventually save the world in Last of the Time Lords

Martha kicks John Simm in the ball* whilst making a frightening speech to the galaxy.

*I thought it was canon that TLs only have one.

Well, if a chav from a Cardiff...oops... sorry an suthentic London council estate can wipe out the Daleks and save the universe, then I'm sure a medical student witha posh mum can

That would be cool. However, in keeping with the rest of this season I expect the true origin of the screwdriver is that 'it was created by creatures who've existed since the beginning of time'. Joan Rivers perhaps.

I love how you know who finally has a plan that works. For years his plans were totally shite but now he's conquered all! Nice.

It makes it sound like a big episode but so did the series 2 finale with the Dalek and Cybermen 'war' (which we got about one scene of, and millions of pointless CG Daleks which do NOT make an 'epic' finale).

The fact is, 44 minutes isn't long enough to deal with something this big, especially if it's all wrapped up and no cliffhanger (which it probably will be because they'll want the Christmas episode to be as standalone as possible). We will be forced to endure another last-minute Deus Ex Machina ending where Martha throws a switch that conveniently makes everything all right again.
