I got a new laptop from comet on the 25th of may and the screen has been flickering quite badly for the past few days, its definitely faulty, i have the receipt and would like to get my money back as i would prefer a desktop i think after this. However given a bad experience with comet before i have recorded the flickering on my mobile for them to see as it only does it intermittently. Should they just take the laptop back and give me my money? or are they going to try and be akward about it and send it for repair etc?

So long as the unit is under 28 days old then they will refund or exchange it, but, they'll need to get an RMA number from the manufacturer first.

They will most probably book it in and arrange an inspection, as they're legally entitled to do.

Either way, so long as the unit is faulty, then yes, you'll get a refund.

Like i say, they'll probably book it in and contact you when the fault has been confirmed, usually takes around 24 hours or so.

It's all down to the store you go to whether they'll do it while you wait.

Being totally non-PC I suggest you play that epilepsy card - it'll make them very nervous about trying to not give you your rights

My mums got Epilepsy, and our TV flickered when we got it from Dixons. We took it back and the CS man got very arsey, so I played the epilepsy card. He then chuckled! Took all my restraint and my stepfathers not to knock him out! I demanded to see the manager who was a bit more sympathetic. We got our money back, and I took it to the head office. We got even more money in apologies.

Works sometimes

According to The Sale of Goods Act you have a 'reasonable time' to examine goods and reject them if they aren't satifactory, i.e. faulty or mis-sold. This is normally taken to be about two months. You don't have to accept a replacement or credit voucher within this time period. So jillions is 100% entitled to a full refund.
