But from September we will just be charged £1 for any amount of data. (Up to the fair usage 40Mb)

Sorry, to clarify - I meant the new data rate being introduced. As far as I understand it, even 0.1k would be £1.

With the minimum call length being increased to 1 minute, rates up to 15p from 12p and the (possible) dropping of the free evening+weekend texts, t-mobile PAYG is starting not to look like the bargain it once was.

I was thinking since some of us have been told this was for life maybe people who already get the free evening and weekend texts will still get them just new customers wont. Possibly? I doubt it though.

I received and started using a T-Mobile "Free evening and weekend texts" sim card last month. So the "for life" bit in the pack really means 2 months.

What a joke these big companies are becoming these days. pathetic

Same here but they are playing silly buggers so I might take it into my local T-Mobile store and get them to call customer service and do it.

Yup indeed the 'for life' is what made me go for it in the first place.

Edit: They finally gave me my PAC so I gave it straight to O2 and the numbers gonna be completed just as my last lot of free texts end.

I wonder what would be the outcome if someone actually took them to court.

I mean their own terms and conditions said that the offer was for life.

I think T-Mobile would actually lose the case as they are clearly breaking their own contractual promise.

Still I know nothing about contract law and im sure they got their ass covered somehow

i dont understand why they dont raise the monthly top up to £15 or £20 if they are losing money. i wouldnt mind paying extra would still be worth it.

No disrespect but PAYG are worthless compared to contract customers. I'm sure that is proven by the fact that they have changed the offer made to you all originally.

No disrespect if it was so worthless they wouldnt change it in the first place they'd just leave it.

Obviously its a business decision, but by not giving away so much the price to pay is losing a few fairweather customers.

I have no idea just guessing but I reckon that keeping a PAYG connection on their network costs T-Mobile under £1 a month and handling a text costs them a small fraction of a penny.

Otherwise they wouldnt have introduced the offer in the first place.

Again I have no idea but my feeling is that a PAYG customer topping up at least £10 a month is basically £100+ profit a year. Multiply that by a couple of million customers and profits are looking good.

Loads of bunts Rodney!!!

I have just topped up £10 on my account and got the following SMS back:

"Great news, we've noticed that you joined T-mobile on a special offer which means you already get free weekend texts."

I was expecting the 'free texts all weekend' deal (which I don't rate very highly) to kick in but this sounds like the old deal from its wording???

What does it say when you call 150? Does it say you have free weekend and evening texts? Or just weekends?

"free weekend and evening texts"

I have just received another SMS from tmobile: "You've topped up with over £10 and now have FREE weekend & evening (7pm-7am) texts to UK mobiles from the UK for the next month..."

Just to confirm when you top up £10 on a friday, you get free texts EVERY weekend for 6 months.. Not just the weekend following the top up

Sorry above post is incorrect. once again I was mis-informed by T mobile staff. You think they would give their staff better training on the promotions. I keep getting told different thing. Now it is only the following weekend according to the text I recieved from them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I too have been given conflicting advice on this. However, I have saved both emails and have sent copies of them to T-Mobile asking for their comments. In my experience I have never received a straight answer from T-Mobile. The phone service and tariff are great but in my experience the communications with customers are poor.

I have just spoken to someone from T-Mobile about the promotion.

Apparently if you joined on the "free evening and weekend text" promotion, you get this for life and don't need to opt in to topup Friday because the offer isn't as good - you need to top up by £10 every Friday to get the texts.

I mistakenly opted in to topup Friday and didn't get my free weekend texts for some reason (T-mobile couldn't tell me why but they refunded me with the credit I spent texting at the weekend).

Anyway to cut a long story short, the lady I spoke to put me back onto the evening and weekend text promotion AND gave me free evening and weekend texts for the rest of this month, even though I should really have topped up by another £10.

I mentioned to her that IMO T-mobile should have made it clear that Topup Friday was only by default for new customers and those of us who are on the evening/weekend promotion shouldn't opt in because we'll lose our deal. I also mentioned that it isn't clear whether you have to top up EVERY Friday or just one Friday every six months. She promised me she would escalate the comments.

I came away from the call a happy bunny.

Just to make this even more confusing I have now received a text from T-Mobile telling me the free evening and weekend texts promotion has ended and I should now opt in to Top-up friday.
Despite being told on the phone that it was for life. Honestly, T-Mobile, sort yourselves out.

That's exactly the text I got and lost my evening/weekend promotion - don't opt in if you want to keep the original one. Having said that if you already have give them a call and ask to be put back onto the original one, they can still do it.

I really think they've made a balls-up with this swap over.

I wonder if any T-Mobile employees on here would like to confirm what's going on.
